Primary Purpose:

Analyze statistical, financial, and competitive information to help make pricing, underwriting, agency management, distribution, and claims decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute and assist with analytic projects in support of Product Development and Analytics objectives
  • Utilize advanced programming techniques to efficiently meet project goals
  • Assist in implementation of models for insurance loss, conversion, retention, and price optimization
  • Communicate with business leaders and staff across functions
  • Design and manipulate large datasets across platforms

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 4+ years of experience working with and analyzing data in an office setting
  • Strong programming skills, specifically in SAS and/or SQL
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines

Desired Skills:

  • P&C insurance industry background with working knowledge of automotive insurance
  • Understanding of insurance product design and mathematical underpinnings of rating algorithms
  • Graduate degree in statistics or related field
  • Strong analytic skills, especially in predictive modeling and data mining techniques
  • Expertise with other statistical software
  • Some VBA programming or demonstrated ability to learn
