Donegal Insurance Group has an opening for a HR Business Partner to join our Marietta, Pennsylvania office.


The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for strategically aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The HRBP is responsible for effective execution of human resources functions such as talent development, talent acquisition and selection, engagement, performance management, organizational development, employee relations, and compensation. The HRBP serves as a consultant to management on human resources-related issues. The HRBP assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and business management, the HRBP seeks to develop integrated solutions. The HRBP formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business units financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

  • Works in partnership with assigned client groups and the management team to evaluate staffing issues and develop a recruiting plan to support the various departments
  • Prepares and places advertising to support recruitment plan and frequently uses our applicant tracking system.
  • Recruits the best talent available to ensure immediate and long-term staffing needs of the organization are achieved
  • Develops terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Frequent use of our HRIS system to look up information, add and/or update information, and run reports as needed.
  • Partners with management to provide HR guidance, improve work relationships, build morale, and increase retention
  • Handle employee relations within assigned client group; conducts investigations and suggests solutions
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance within assigned client group (i.e. coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, and exit interviews)
  • Play an active role in the Donegal Insurance Groups committees and work with the committees to ensure projects and resources are appropriate for the company
  • In partnership with the Vice President of Human Resources and the HR Manager, evaluate the companys human resource practices, policies and services using our competition as a measuring tool to ensure we are delivering the highest quality service to our employees
  • Ensure duties are performed in adherence to all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations
  • Maintains and/or assists with companys I-9 program and/or E-Verify requirements and partners with Donegals legal department on immigration matters requiring HR involvement.
  • Comply with policies and directives outlined in the company handbook and department manuals
  • Clearly demonstrate commitment and participation to team goals and objectives
  • This is a professional level position and the employee may need to work additional hours to complete various projects
  • Ability to travel is be required for this position. Travel time is less than 10% and may include overnight visits to our regional offices.

Client group assignments may vary based on skill, experience, client group size and location.

EDUCATION AND/OR RELATED EXPERIENCE

HR Generalist

  • 1 to 3 years of Human Resources Generalist experience with an emphasis on employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, and a working knowledge of benefit administration
  • Bachelors Degree in related field required

HRBP

  • 3 to 5 years experience resolving complex employee relations issues
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver presentations and training at all levels in the organization.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • PHR preferred at HRBP Level
