CLAIMS ASSISTANT

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Claims Assistant role assists and supports the claims staff in the set-up and administration of claims.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Claims Assistant will Set up new claims
  • Claims Assistant will Process mail, and input notes/diary entries in the claims system
  • Claims Assistant will Process form letters, state forms and reports
  • Claims Assistant will Assist claims examiners with telephone calls including insured, claimant, and customer calls
  • Requires regular and consistent attendance
  • Claims Assistant will Comply with all safety rules and regulations during work hours
  • Additional duties as requested

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of Property & Casualty claims
  • Ability to learn rapidly to continue to develop knowledge and understanding of claims practices
  • Ability to type 50 wpm
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office including Excel spreadsheets
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Able to work in fast paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks

Position Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience assisting Claims Adjusters
  • Skilled in customer service duties such as answering phones
  • High school diploma/GED required
