Actuarial Associate (AB)

Purpose and Importance of Position

This job is responsible for developing simple to moderately complex actuarial asbestos models based on actuarial and financial analyses for use in internal processes and decision making. Depending upon experience, the position may also help in creating and implementing processes associated with model creation and resulting outputs.

Essential Functions

• Compile, review, verify and analyze insurance Asbestos data
• Complete analysis of data and summarize results to convey to various audiences
• Develop Asbestos models on individual accounts to support claim reserving, resolution and litigation
• Provide further technical support to senior management and other business units, in particular, Claims as related to Asbestos Model Review
• Ensure data integrity and identify discrepancies in conjunction with review of individual accounts.
• Compile, review, verify and analyze related external and internal insurance data including completed models for benchmarking of results

Required Skills

• Very high mathematical aptitude

• Good presentation skills
• Customer service oriented with the ability for developing long lasting relationships with internal and external business partners.

Experience

• Property & Casualty insurance experience
• Experience working with Excel
• Knowledge of SQL, experience in data mining, or familiarity with statistical and predictive analysis software and data mining experience is a plus

Required Education

Bachelors degree, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related subject

Preferred Education or Certification

• 1 or more actuarial exams, preferred but not necessarily required. We would consider as many as 5 or more actuarial exams for the right candidate.
