Job Description
The HR Operational Risk Consultant supports the spectrum of operational risks focusing on but not limited to model governance and business continuity management. The role is responsible for understanding enterprise level risk and control standards, methods and tools, and applying those standards, methods and tools in HR. The HR Operational Risk Consultant, in partnership with applicable corporate governance teams and the HR Operational Risk Expert, is responsible for identifying risks that may adversely impact the current or future state of the HRs business operations. The role is responsible for ensuring HR is adhering to the risk controls and creating transparency in current and emerging risks.
This individual will report to the HR Operational Risk Expert.
The role is an individual contributor, will require the ability to complete work through others, and will be responsible for the following:
- Partnering with business continuity and model teams to ensure deliverables are met.
- Fostering timely communication across their AoR and with enterprise partners.
- Engaging with business leaders to ensure risk transparency, accountability, and proactive risk mitigation where appropriate.
- Supporting all operational risk education and awareness efforts across HR.
- Support operational risk projects or efforts led by ORE.
- Supporting change management plans and roadmaps to deploy risk and control methods based on enterprise standards specific to each risk category.

Model Governance Leads and executes the AoRs model risk management process.
- Drives AoR awareness of model risk policy, guidelines and best practices.
- Provides model risk transparency and ensures risk accountability at the individual model/owner level.
- Coordinates governance activities to support framework execution (model inventory, model review and reporting processes).

Drives change management, ensures all models have declared owners and coordinates with owners to ensure their models meet company standards.
Business Continuity Management Manages the AoRs business continuity (BC) planning.
- Develops, maintains and manages BC planning and documentation to meet AoR recovery requirements when faced with a business interruption.
- Builds relationships and partners with ORE to advise on continuity strategies to build resiliency.
- Contributes AoR knowledge and end-to-end process expertise to the Business Impact Analysis (BIA).
- Facilitates BC exercises and participates in post-event analysis of actual incidents to develop action plans for managing risks.
- Engages with senior AoR leadership to understand business strategies with BC risks and implications, ensures appropriate plans have been implemented to mitigate risks, and reports trends and metrics to drive improvement priorities, action plans, and risk-based decision making.
- Advances Enterprise Business Continuity Planning (EBCP) program objectives and operates as a liaison between the EBCP team and the BC plan and process owners.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5 7 years of HR experience and exposure to risk, audit, compliance, model governance or business continuity preferred.
- 2 years of project management experience, engaging resources (people, material, support) to eliminate barriers, orchestrating multiple activities to accomplish a goal, and using resources effectively and efficiently
- Experience implementing business processes, while considering critical dependencies such as organization, technology, suppliers
- Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to recommend actions
- Experience working in a matrix environment and influencing both upward and cross-functionally
- Experience applying change management practices preferred
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies and practices across a large, complex business
- Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to recommend actions
- Excellent organization skills, analytical skills, presentation, and time management skill
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate complex information in a way that others can understand
- Excellent Computer Skills (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.)
