Job Description

Allstate's ETL Production Support Team is seeking a support member with the following skill set: ETL developer background with hands-on experience to perform coding, integration, testing, installation, and maintenance. This role requires strong technical skills specific to data integration technology and should have good knowledge and experience of the software development lifecycle. Creating and updating technical documentation integral to Allstate business is also part of the responsibilities. The candidate must be a team player, self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines, problem solve, and learn quickly within a mature technology environment.

Responsibilities

  • Be able to analyze and understand technical designs based on user requirements and documentation.
  • Work with onshore/offshore Production Support(PS) Team to analyze, develop and improve the ETL nightly schedules as well as produce accurate defect free code for multiple projects.
  • Coordinate with offshore PS Team to improve the applications to run efficiently within the nightly schedule window and meets the business requirements.
  • Create unit test plans and verify the unit test results are correct and functioning as designed
  • Participate in the formal application transitions and reviews of modifications to improve ADW nightly schedule performance.
  • Work with QC Analyst to ensure modifications are appropriately tested by identifying key test conditions, provide technical expertise on how to execute the cycle and assist with troubleshooting testing issues.
  • Be able to coordinate and work with multiple development teams, outside vendors and other support areas for making improvements in the nightly schedules or correcting bugs.
  • Assists production implementation according to the defined release schedules and maintenance of the production, QA and test environments
  • Develop performance tuning on UNIX ETL and Oracle database environments.
  • Participate in Production Support transition meetings.
  • Provide input in creating detailed ETL development estimates or change requests
  • Other responsibilities include enhancement, performance tuning, support of the existing applications, project coordination and prioritization.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in ETL tools such as Ab Initio or Informatica etc.
  • 2+ years of UNIX scripting, job scheduling tool (like Tivoli/TDWB), Oracle SQL and PL/SQL experience.
  • Experience in scheduling tools such as IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler, Control M, AutoSys, etc.
  • Prior experience with Informatica/Ab Initio is a plus.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated work experience with projects of complex scope
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours in order to coordinate with US based team
  • Good working knowledge of data warehouse and database design
  • Microsoft Office Products and Microsoft Visio
  • Working knowledge of Excel macros, Perl and Service Now a plus
  • Knowledge of the ETL Applications, their infrastructure and their standards a plus.
