VP Legal

We are currently hiring for a Senior level Attorney that will be responsible for counsel and analysis on general legal matters, reporting to the General Counsel for a growing Life and Annuity Insurance company.  

In this role you will:

Offer input and advice to the executive team regarding various legal matters, including those that can be sensitive and complex.

Deal with transactional matters, including compliance, tax issues, statutory filings, governance and employment law.

Draft and reviewing legal documents.

Help to manage litigation internally and externally (outside counsel).

Conduct research into legal issues pertaining to risk/exposure.

Recommend and draft company policy and procedures.

Contract negotiation with outside partners/vendors.

Research and documentation of complex matters.

Manage and delegate projects to staff.

Work with and interact with the various regulatory agencies.

Ideally we hope to find someone with:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, understanding and knowledge of the various statutes and regulations pertaining to the Insurance industry. We are also looking for a creative thinker and problem solver and works well in a team based, collaborative work environment. We are also looking for someone who is willing to be hands on and who is comfortable working in a smaller to mid sized company culture.

Education and Experience

Law degree (JD) from accredited university. 10-12 years progressive experience with a law firm or Corporate legal role, preferably working with Insurance clients or at an Insurance company.

This is a full time permanent role offering salary, bonus and benefits. We do need this person to be on site so remote is not an option and full relocation assistance will be offered.
