Description

Potential responsibilities may include special projects and participation in due diligence efforts to evaluate potential new business acquisitions.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Reviews loss notices, confirms and interprets policy coverages, establishes adequate reserves, and investigates and handles claims involving primary and excess coverages.
  • Maintains files according to company procedure.
  • Assigns defense counsel, participates in developing defense strategy, and communicates effectively with peer carriers.
  • Accurately evaluates cases for reserving and settlement.
  • Participates in developing resolution strategy and negotiates favorable resolutions where appropriate.
  • Handles a volume of complex and dynamic claims effectively.
  • Provides claim information to senior management and maintains financial and general statistical records used for reporting to management.
  • Maintains diary of pending cases to ensure maintenance of reserves that reflect the company's exposure, adequate notice to reinsurers, and recovery of amounts paid as appropriate.
  • Participates in special projects and due diligence efforts to evaluate potential new business acquisitions as needed.
  • Travels as required.

Qualifications:
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven track record of independent work and ability to manage multiple priorities at once while meeting deadlines.
  • Five or more years handling complex claims/suits and coverage issues is preferred, but not required.
  • JD, CPCU, SCLA, or CCLA is a plus.

  • Four-Year College Degree
