Job Summary
Positions within this family explore and profile data, draw business inferences, complete analysis and clearly articulate findings for a target audience. This position performs accountabilities under limited supervision. Position is a senior level role, requiring significant previous experience in Descriptive Analytics. May lead complex initiatives and projects and/or oversee projects lead by others within team. May lead multi-disciplinary or cross-functional work teams. Serves as technical resource to team members and others within Business Intelligence function(s).



Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
This position provides senior technical leadership in data exploration and analytics in support of business strategies. Drives strategies and govern progress and outcomes of analytics work. The person in this role is able to quickly assess the analytic needs of a legal organization, as well as understands legal acumen. As part of this role this individual will not only lead as well as conduct analysis on a variety of organizational needs to address organizational or office needs. The person in this role will partner with leadership to address not only business intelligence needs, but partner with leaders to understand their business needs, and determine how Business Intelligence can support the organizational needs. Uses understanding of Travelers business strategies to develop analytic strategies and project proposals; oversees implementation of those strategies. Collaborates with Business Intelligence/ Data teams and related business teams. Champions a data-driven, fact based approach to management. Interprets data to recognize patterns and analyze trends, drawing business inferences and clearly articulating findings to target audience. Directs the development of new approaches to business problems.. Proactively stays abreast of data sources, identifies best internal and external data sources in response to business requests. Develops and maintains effective relationships with business partners. Partners with peers across the company to ensure consistency and alignment where appropriate. Identifies, recommends and implements analytic software/tool(s) for core team and lead training, utilization and optimization efforts.


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent education or 8 years analytics experience required. 7 years analytics experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelors degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering Mathematics) preferred. 8+ years working successfully with data analysis systems and tools such as SAS, SPSS Cognos etc. preferred. Thorough knowledge of Descriptive Analytic practices and processes. Thorough knowledge of Insurance products/concepts required. Experience working on broad/business-wide projects and initiatives working directly with senior management preferred. 3+ years of management experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of the main features of the collection of data and the relationship of data elements to each other Thorough Knowledge: Possesses advanced knowledge of subject matter in order to solve unusual as well as common work problems and advise on technical matters and to serve as a resource to organization.
