Donegal Insurance Group has an opening for an Underwriter Trainee to join our Mountain States office in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

About the role:

We are seeking a candidate to join our Underwriting Career Development Program. The candidate will be trained in the underwriting department. Ideal candidates will possess a 4-year college degree, previous customer service experience and demonstrate the skills and enthusiasm necessary to become an underwriting professional. Strong analytical skills and sound judgment are also required to be successful in our role.

• Select, price and develop coverage terms for accounts to achieve profitable underwriting results and assist with providing leadership, support and coaching for the underwriting function
• Manage a territory of independent agents to ensure that profitability and growth objectives for the company are being met
• Review new business applications to evaluate degree of risk involved; accept or decline risks based on company's underwriting policies

EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience working in a professional office environment or prior insurance related experience
• Co-Op or Internship in related business field

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration or related degree or equivalent industry experience
• Demonstration of self-development by working towards attainment of professional insurance designations: INS, CPCU, ARM, API, etc.

TEMPORARY RELOCATION

• Position requires a temporary relocation to Lancaster, PA for approximately three months to participate in Donegal Insurance Group's Underwriting Career Development Program. Travel expenses, housing, and use of a vehicle are provided by the company.
