Job Summary
Leverages technology and analytics skills to apply basic to intermediate data analysis practices that benefit Business and IT strategic initiatives. Performs intermediate to advanced data profiling, metadata documentation, data lineage, and data transformation rules in support of key program deliverables. Meets data management needs of internal and external clients according to established standards, including problem research/resolution and customer education. Provides data subject matter expertise within areas of knowledge to Business and IT organizations. Performs data impact analyses in partnership with project teams. Supports the building of strategic model solutions including transformation rules and attribute relationships. This job does not manage others This job works under General Supervision: Incumbent independently performs a variety of duties, including potentially complex duties within established policy guidelines; responsible for a defined set of assignments (e.g. assigned customers, claims or other specified set of responsibilities); is expected to set priorities and meet specific goals and objectives of the function or unit. (Typically pertains to advanced/operational, senior professional, unit supervisor)

Marketing Description

Looking for a Data Quality and Data Analytics candidate to measure and report on the quality of data being used for analytics and perform data analysis on strategic projects. Main Duties will include:

  • Leveraging technology and analytical skills to apply data analysis practices that benefit business and IT strategic initiatives.
  • Performing intermediate to advanced data profiling, metadata documentation, data lineage, data transformation rules in support of key program deliverables.
  • Working alongside the Data Governance team to ensure that data management activities across PI are accounted for and in compliance with established policies and standards.
  • Meeting data management needs of internal and external clients according to established standards, including problem research/resolution and customer education.
  • Collaborating with Business Owners and SMEs to define, design, recommend, and leverage tools to measure and monitor data quality.
  • Performing simple to moderate root cause analysis, tracing quality problems to their source and analyze business impacts of data quality issues.
  • Discovering, documenting, and analyzing data collection and data transformation processes to determine the cause of systemic errors or uncover data quality improvement opportunities.
  • Analyzing customer requests (internal and external regulatory, e.g. data calls) for changes to production systems, determine impact on existing systems, processes and develop appropriate specifications, enhancements and or procedures to comply.


Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Develops and applies data derivations, rules, and data requirements that align with standards and regulatory compliance. Supports the development of Data Management standards and best practices. Consults on projects, resolves simple to moderate data issues, and provides training and mentoring to clients and peers. Serves as data management lead on moderately complex projects to review data requirements against data standards. Applies data and data quality definitions and standards, and transformation rules, in daily work. Works with other organizational units and resources to gather, analyze, and present data. Monitors, identifies, investigates, prioritizes, remediates, and communicates data quality issues. Performs data profiling, analyzes and communicates results in support of data quality processes. Demonstrates detailed understanding of overall data models, data relationships, mapping lineage, and business rules. Data Governance: Supports the development and implementation of metadata repositories. May participate in defining, loading, and maintaining metadata. Adheres to the structure, best practices, and storage needs of the data lineage. Data Analysis: Develops and maintains business data requirements and specifications to support data standards. Ensures that solutions (structure, values, relationships, quality standards) meet operational and business need. Work with business areas and project team members to understand new business data capabilities and perform impact analysis to determine additional data requirements, provide data expertise and data as needed. Analyzes customer requests (internal and external regulatory, e.g. data calls) for changes to production systems, determines impact on existing systems, processes and develops appropriate specifications, enhancements and or procedures to comply. Meet with customer and conduct fact gathering sessions. Oversee deliverables to ensure compliance (e.g. state/bureau requirements). Handles simple to moderate root cause analysis of business data issues and provides technical data guidance on complex issues. Oversees specification or procedural changes to address issue. Supports the development of strategic solutions for architecture for managing of data including transformation logic, rules, tables as well as business requirements and specifications. Represent unit and department functions as part of Data Management committees with internal and external areas (e.g. Product Underwriting, Statistical Bureaus, etc.). Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of analytics experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelors degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or Business preferred. Insurance knowledge preferred. Three years of experience in data management or related experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of tools and software to extract and analyze data in the data management function.

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
Moderate knowledge of enterprise uses of data and total data flow within enterprise. Possesses moderate knowledge of database software applications, financial modeling tools, and actuarial/statistical modeling tools. Demonstrated intermediate analytic and diagnostic skills. Demonstrated intermediate interpersonal skills. Demonstrated intermediate communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated ability to influence others. General understanding of the business functions, processes, and overall business strategies. Intermediate business acumen. Seeks opportunities to learn and to influence others. Intermediate problem solving skills. Ability to interact effectively with others across functions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience performing Data Analytics and writing SQL Queries.
  • Experience with Data Quality, recommending improvements to best practices.
  • Data Profiling.

Licensing or Certificates
IDMA, IQCP, or CPCU preferred.
