Job Summary
Program Goal: Provide program participants a broad experience and relevant exposure opportunities to the various components of the Travelers business intelligence community. There is a strong recommendation for participants to participate in different experiences and roles offered throughout the program to satisfy graduation requirements. As a Business Intelligence Participant within the Business Intelligence & Geospatial (BIG) Development Program, you work in concert with your assigned area of business and our program to develop within your own tailored business intelligence competency mapping. This position is a role within one of the many portfolios of Business Intelligence; including but not limited to: Information Delivery, Data Management, Business Performance Analytics, Data Engineering, or Business Analysis. This is a developmental position with a tailored multi-year curriculum. Positions within this family work with business customers to determine how Business Intelligence information and analytic solutions can be leveraged to support business strategies, capabilities, and processes.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Business Performance Analytics: Profiles data, draws business inferences, completes analysis and clearly articulates findings for a target audience. Accountable for performing less complex core tasks of Descriptive Analytics (the exploration and investigation of past business performance), partnering with team members on more complex tasks. Manipulates raw data sets into information fit for analysis applying needed logic or requirements from subject matter expert Data Engineering: Assists with data queries and acquisition, following well defined and sometimes not well defined criteria and steps. Aids in reviewing, preparing, basic designing, and integrating data, correcting minor problems and implementing data cleansing/quality solution to benefit predictive model validation and support. May perform systems analyst functions monitoring performance of servers running Python, R SAS, or SQL queries. Business Analysis: Assists in the process of eliciting, analyzing, specifying, communicating and validating Business Intelligence requirements while identifying project issues which require escalation. May act as point of contact for business during and after project implementation. Supports and at times, may lead smaller initiatives for the ongoing rationalization of business intelligence assets to ensure they are providing utmost value for business outcomes. Will evolve within the year to point of contact to the business for various post project deliverables such as: testing, adoption, and/or training. Learns how to inform data management of new sources and attributes for their governance. Information Delivery: Works with delivery team to fulfill the delivery strategy for business requirements. Learns how to develop automate, compile, and prepare reports, dashboards, cubes, etc. and will take ownership of necessary components such as; Collection of data, Integration of that data, and Development (prototyping, coding, and production build). Learns how to complete root cause analysis and facilitates some quality assurance facets of projects. Learns how to inform data management of new sources and attributes for their governance. Data Management: Aids in the data governance and metadata processes by preparing artifacts for review and submission (i.e. researching, preparing simple submissions, and data quality metrics.) Participants are expected to evolve to facilitator of data governance meetings. Demonstrates understanding of overall data models, data relationships, mapping lineage and business rules and participates in the creation of data models (e.g. entity design and population) and takes ownership accordingly to department requests and inquiries. Learns and adheres to all data management, information protection, and governance practices. Participates and aids in program events and initiatives, which may include; Completes tailored 1st Year Experience Training (Business Acumen, Insurance Acumen, Technical & Analytic Expertise, Leadership Readiness) Recruiting visits that could occur outside core business hours for branding Travelers as employer of choice (Intern Info Sessions, School Visits, Career Fairs) Participants may own school relationship between school and program while also participating in talent selection for on campus interviews. Leads planning committees for the Summer Intern Experience; Facilitates Intern Onboarding & Orientation, Prepares executives for Intern Speaker Series, Spearheads coordination of End of Summer Intern Presentations. Ad hoc Business Intelligence & Analytics Community initiatives such as; Town Hall coordination, eForums, internal conferences, etc. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Previous business Intelligence, general business, and/or Project Management experience preferred. Basic understanding of the business functions, processes, and overall business strategies preferred. Previous internship in a data related field is preferred. Basic knowledge of data and business intelligence tools, techniques, and manipulation preferred. Examples include, but are not limited to; Big data and Hadoop platforms and languages - SAS, SQL, Spark, Python, Pig, Hive, Qliksense, Microstrategy.

Environmental/Work Schedules/Other
Travel - Occasionally Incumbents would be expected to travel for training or recruiting up to 5% of time.
