The Senior IS Consultant, Capacity Management, consults with ACE's Business Units and IS, and is responsible for developing capacity growth plans to ensure that the performance and availability of the IS systems support the business goals and objectives over the short and long term. The ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with both Business executives and technical specialists is an essential requirement of this role. 

The consultant will relate business metrics to systems performance, communicate with the business to forecast growth, and plan the procurement of capacity meet the Business demand. Will have a solid understanding of statistical techniques such as factor analysis, Monte-Carlo modeling and forecasting, and will work with the IS Business Intelligence team to identify metrics that both track business growth and predict systems load and capacity requirements. Will be able to build dynamic models of 'speeds and feeds' that adequately predict system behavior, constraints, bottlenecks, timeouts and cascade failures. Must be able to communicate the results of such models and procurement plans to Business executives. 

Must have experience working with performance monitoring specialists and have a deep understanding of the capabilities and forecasting limitations of performance monitoring and work management tools in heterogeneous environments (i.e., Cloud, mainframe, .Net and LAMP). The incumbent must be able to derive models that (a) relate such metrics to capacity requirements, (b) forecast growth, and (c) plan for well-timed procurements to ensure sufficient capacity and availability. This will require familiarity with the use of performance monitoring tools such as Omegamon, Splunk, Oracle GRID, CA Wiley and Compuware Strobe.


Qualifications

  

 * Four year college degree in areas related to Systems Modeling, Operations Research, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience, is required.

* Masters in Computer Science, or a strongly numerate MBA preferred. Experience

* 7 years working in systems engineering and/or applications architecture team

* Proven track record of collaborating in a high performing team.

* Experience in one or more of the following: LAMP/Java, .Net/SQLServer, Mainframe/DB2

* Experience in front-end technology stacks is a bonus.

* Experience in statistical modeling.

* Experience in monitoring IT infrastructures and application performance.

* Experience communicating with both executives and technical staff.

* Experience with Insurance/Travel/Discount/Automotive/Membership products and operations highly desired.

* Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.

 Knowledge/Skills/Competencies 

* Superior strategic, analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

* Excellent communication skills, to both internal and external stakeholders, both oral and written.

* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, and senior executives.

* Advanced ability to analyze corporate data to extract predictive metrics

* Advanced ability to think strategically and transform strategy into actionable plans.

* Clear understanding of how to develop predictive models of complex architectures.

* Ability to not get 'stuck in the weeds,' but to formulate understandable and manageable models of real life performance and capacity and to communicate those to technical and Business partners.

* Advanced organization, planning, and problem resolution skills required.
