The VP & Sr. Director, Product Owner reports into the Chief Digital Officer and will be the lead for our public facing websites and SMS & Campaign Management platforms. You will drive business results by creating a cohesive strategy to improve our engagement mechanisms with prospects and customers.

You will lead search engine optimization, engage with prospective customers to provide easy and clear messaging to increase the number of online quotes, as well as providing a great experience for current customers by providing the right initial resources and content to answer questions. Additionally, you will partner throughout the organization to continue to build our SMS capabilities and enhance our campaign management capabilities.

 

The VP & Sr. Director, Product Owner is responsible for articulating and translating the overall business vision into strategy and tactics for specific journeys and/or product(s). Responsible for maintaining a robust backlog based on customer research and conducting continuous in-market testing, with focus on speed to market and rapid scaling where appropriate. Portfolio of initiatives should drive tangible business results and aid the achievement of GRM U.S. Digital objectives. Manages a group of Product Owners and leads Agile teams and business partners to align priorities, remove roadblocks and secure resources.

 

About the role:

  • Works closely with business units to take business strategy and translate into product strategies to support overall business goals.
  • Represents the business by communicating the product vision broadly and effectively to key team members and Sr. Management.
  • Allocates investment across products and ensures sufficient resources.
  • Functions as the final arbiter at the product level to prioritize work and accepts the final release plan. Handles final escalation on trade-offs across the product portfolio, ensures coordination of work across individual Agile teams.
  • Provides leadership to agile product teams and has direct managerial responsibilities for Product Owners and other Agile development team roles. Enables teams to solve problems, builds PO skills on the team and acts as a 'servant leader.'
  • Builds tight alignment with the IT and design teams to ensure consistent attention to both delivering customer value and technology modernization
  • Defines objectives and development plans in alignment with IT and business goals. Manages team to achieve business results.
  • Champions Agile development methodology transformation across the company through contribution to Agile education initiatives and communicating agile principles to executive audiences. Monitors the application of Agile principles across product teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Business expertise and knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management as typically acquired through a Bachelors' degree in relevant field (business, computer science, etc.) and a minimum of 10 years' experience in business, engineering, technology and/or consulting.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years' experience managing product management teams.
  • Proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities across the product portfolio and drive business value.
  • Has in depth knowledge and ability to influence business strategy.
  • Possesses strong communication and influence skills within reporting line as well as with IT and business peers.
  • Excellent collaboration skills -- leading execution across teams, influencing across organizations, respected, experience of working across levels from developers and designers Demonstrates passion for improving customer outcomes and experiences.
  • Embraces change and 'outside of the box' ideas-does not feel attachment to the status quo.
  • Encourages non-hierarchical culture.
