Liberty Mutual Surety ™ has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst (non-IT) to join our Field Analytics group in Seattle, WA.  In this role, you will gather and analyze data, and build dashboards and visualizations to be used by our Executive and Senior Managers that assist in making business decisions.  You will use your prior experience producing dashboards using PowerPivot or Power BI, and will work independently and collaboratively with internal business partners and peers.

 Responsibilities:
  • Provide Senior and Executive Surety Management with business analysis and reporting support activities.
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing reports and dashboards/visualizations to drive key business decisions necessary to establish and evaluate metrics Senior and Executive Surety Management.  Examples include but are not limited to:  Operational Dashboards on premium and account distribution, and account performance by region,
  • Proactively identify, gather, analyze, and leverage data sources to develop dashboards and visualizations. Seek new opportunities to identify and recognize key data and insights that adds value to ad-hoc and monthly reports and dashboards.
  • Create communication plans and provide guidance to assist managers with how to use dashboards to analyze performance and business results as well as build key metrics and performance indicators as well as opportunities for improvement or enhancement across the region/field.
  • Work across teams within Surety to identify root causes of data quality issues and develop solutions.
  • May participate in monthly operational reviews with Senior and Executive Surety Management.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of department operations, processes, procedures, and operational effectiveness, and establish a rapport with Surety personnel.
  • Utilize a combination of Excel, Microsoft Power BI, and other tools as appropriate to translate raw data into detailed business analysis and dashboards/visualizations.
  • Develop and provide subject matter expertise on key initiatives across Surety Field Operations.
  • Recommend, implement, and enhance process improvements in support of the Surety's continuous improvement efforts.
  • Other projects and ad-hoc activities as assigned.
Qualifications:   
  • Bachelor's degree typically required, with a preference in Economics, Statistics, Business Management, Mathematics, or other quantitative field.
  • A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience as a Business Analyst creating reports and dashboards, and working within the Business directly (non-IT).
  • Proficiency with PowerPivot, Power BI, or other BI tools for reporting and dashboard creation.  Will consider other BI tools.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to identify and apply best practices for data management and data visualization.
  • Familiar with statistical process control methods and their application to monitoring business metrics.
  • Passion for making data driven decisions
  • Proven ability to take ownership of own work and deliverables, and seek information and solutions under ambiguous circumstances.
  • Works well independently and on a team.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex and ambiguous topics in a structured and compelling manner (verbal and written).
  • Strong analytical/problem solving and research skills
  • Ability to manage tasks/projects with aggressive deadlines/time sensitivity.
