Job Description

Skills/Qualifications:

• High School degree, GED equivalent or medical billing certification
• One to two years medical billing experience
• Demonstrated experience with medical terminology, ICD-9 and CPT coding
• Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
• Above average data entry and computer skills
• Familiar with Workers Compensation rules and policies a plus
• Workers Compensation or insurance industry experience preferred

Duties:

• Verifies medical bill information, looking for incomplete, incorrect or duplicate information
• Review bills for appropriateness of payment
• Approve or deny payment of medical bill per department protocol
• Enter bill data into bill payment system
• Contacts internal associates for authorization clarification
• Communicate process improvements to management
• Works with established timelines and quality standards
• Other duties and projects as assigned
