Summary:  Are you passionate about providing top quality legal litigation services? If so, Liberty Mutual's Home Office Corporate Legal Litigation Group is seeking a highly qualified Corporate Attorney to support its internal business clients and the Liberty Mutual Group (LMG) organization. While you will direct the defense of LMG companies in extra-contractual litigation, you will also provide pre-litigation advice to our clients focused on mitigating corporate risk. Responsibilities:
  • Provide consultation, recommendations and direction to internal clients and business partners on issues potentially involving extra-contractual and/or unallocated liability exposure. In addition, you will represent LMG companies at mediations and various court proceedings.
  • Recommend practical legal courses of action to mitigate risk, efficiently manage financial exposure, and achieve client goals.
  • This role also involves you performing necessary research and analysis of cases, statutes, regulations and other legal materials; review/edit legal documents.
  • Hire and direct outside counsel in various jurisdictions/states around the country, and coordinate litigation strategy with internal clients.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of law school with a J.D. or L.L.B. degree and admission to the bar of at least one jurisdiction in the United States required. Generally requires at least three years' experience as a practicing litigator.
  • Several years of direct experience representing defendant insurance companies in litigation involving general and/or auto liability, property and workers compensation policies preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, client focus, handling multiple priorities and attention to detail required;
  • Proven ability to work resourcefully, handle a large volume of cases, conduct legal research and analyze legal issues required.
  • Periodic travel for trials, depositions, arbitrations, mediations and other litigation events. While travel may not be on a consistent basis it can be substantial given litigation circumstances.
