In Corporate Relations, we:

  • Tell Allstates iconic story and bring the voice of Allstate to life through internal and external strategic communications.
  • Know the business and work closely with leaders to strengthen Allstates reputation, strategy and culture.
  • Provide world-class communications counsel to advance issues and initiatives important to our stakeholders employees, customers, consumers, agency force, investors, policy makers and opinion leaders.

We connect our stakeholders to Allstate and to each other, build and protect our brand, and get the word out about ways that Allstate helps people live a good life every day. We do this by providing our expertise in executive positioning, internal communications, media relations, reputation management, issues and crisis management, thought leadership and advocacy, strategic business counsel, employee engagement and culture, corporate social responsibility and financial communications.

Job Description

This role will mimic a media relations guru at a PR agency finding story ideas within the business and creating a vision for sharing those stories with consumers through national media outlets. Youll connect with national reporters and producers and maintain those relationships to help tell our stories.

Maintaining relationships will be key and youll have the freedom to create those connections. Sure, theres some news release writing involved, but not nearly as much as there used to be. Were storytellers and we want someone who is ready to help jump in and build our story with us engage senior leaders and facilitate media interviews to land national coverage. Are you in?

Responsibilites:

  • Make and maintain relationships with national media contacts.
  • Find and promote stories from within the business to share externally.
  • Think strategically about stories that show us as a caring company.
  • Collaborate with social media team and consumer marketing divisions to build surround-sound communication plans that showcase Allstate as an innovative and caring company.
  • Listen and learn about multiple business units and new products or services, then translate that into messages that speak to the consumer benefits.
  • Be nimble, on-the-go and ready at any minute to pivot when necessary to achieve success on a deadline.

Job Qualifications

  • Five years of previous public relations experience, including direct contact with media including pitching, writing, interview coaching. On-camera spokesperson skills preferred.
  • Media Relations: Ability to work with news media outlets and social platforms to place stories that build and enhance a companys reputation. Understand when to involve others to mitigate issues that could negatively impact reputation.
  • Journalism Background: Previous experience in a corporate or agency environment, or experience as a reporter or producer, with proven success in pitching story ideas and moving them to publication.
  • Writing: Knowledge and application of the Associated Press Style Guide to prepare error-free communications.
  • Creative Thinking: Generates innovative solutions to achieve business outcomes. Finds story ideas out of complex topics with an ability to retell the story to a mass audience.
  • Presentation Skills: Delivers presentations effectively and with confidence. Ability to think and perform spontaneously.

Education:

Bachelors degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field.
