As an Accountant, you will partner with finance and business stakeholders across the organization to provide guidance and consultation on technical accounting issues. Uses increasing expertise to process detailed information to research and apply accounting policy. Communicates effectively with other units and management to plan work, gather information, and present results. Leads efforts to continuously improve processes to produce relevant financial reports in the most efficient means possible. For this role, it is crucial to be able to work and communicate effectively with the team and stakeholders and provide value to customers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in research, interpretation, and application of authoritative accounting guidance to complex accounting issues/ business transactions that arise and communicate results effectively with stakeholders.

  • Provide technical support for reporting and disclosures, ensure that footnotes are updated accurately in accordance with the applicable accounting guidance.

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies in accordance with the applicable authority's guidance (U.S GAAP, STAT and IFRS)

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of accounting principles and awareness of new accounting issues relevant to the team's work and reviews recommendations with management.

  • Continually assess the business value and efficiency of the work performed, making suggestions for improvements and collaborating with others in implementing them. Leads or actively participates in increasingly complex department projects and continuous improvement activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Prior experience in the insurance industry preferred.
  • Displays strong research, problem-solving, analytical, critical thinking skills and must demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to achieve results.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with teammates and others, leading meetings and interacting with increasingly higher levels of management to gather information and effectively present results/recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
  • CPA or CPA Candidate preferred
