 Summary:   The Global Portfolio Analytics team is seeking a Sr. Manager to manage Liberty's Global Retail Markets (GRM)'s global risk management process.  In this role, the candidate will be primarily responsible for managing GRM's reinsurance strategy performing risk analysis and recommending risk selections to the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Committee and GRM's CFO. Secondarily, this role will be responsible for oversight of GRM's ERM process. The candidate will work with global Product, Actuarial, and Finance teams within GRM, as well as corporate stakeholders to sustain a sound and relevant risk management environment within Liberty Mutual. We seek a highly motivated, self-directed individual with advanced project management and reinsurance skills to join our team.   Responsibilities:  The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage global reinsurance strategy for GRM:
    • Lead the development and implementation of GRM's internal reinsurance process
    • Develop presentations including project updates and recommendations to senior leaders
    • Collaborate with GRM FP&A to direct the global reinsurance planning process
    • Manage reinsurance renewals providing analysis and coordination across key stakeholders
    • Develop and manage performance dashboards to be shared with senior leaders, identifying opportunities to optimize risk and return trade-offs
    • Present quarterly updates to senior leadership and respond to ad hoc requests
    • Provide guidance and help develop reinsurance knowledge within the team
  •  Oversee GRM's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process:
    • Lead coordination across GRM functions to ensure timely submission of ERM information
    • Analyze results and providing insights in order to optimize risk management process
    • Provide thought leadership on deep dive topics and ad hoc requests by ERM committee
    • Provide guidance and help develop risk capabilities within the team
  • Lead ad-hoc analysis request for internal and external stakeholders to drive more informed decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative field (finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, engineering or science) with advanced degree, such as an MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively more responsible experience in a financial and/or project management environment with exposure to risk management, project management, reinsurance and actuarial analysis.
  • Ability to independently manage and/or execute multiple projects simultaneously
  • Solid business acumen and integrated thinking
  • Driven and flexible enough to succeed in ambiguous and less structured situations
  • Keen attention to detail and a strong quantitative background
  • Strong analytical skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational drivers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both formal and informal settings, as well as proven ability to effectively present technical concepts to non-technical individuals
