Overview

The Operational Risk Manager within the risk management function is directly responsible for planning, leading, and overseeing of the execution of the operational risk reviews within AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. Duties include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Lead the launch of operational risk management framework to support the risk management function
  • Lead the development and execution of the 2nd line risk control testing, risk-based operational risk review plan around key risk controls and risk self-assessment
  • Conduct and manage risk-based reviews of key operational and enterprise risks and assist management in developing remediation action plans
  • Track and monitor management action plans where necessary
  • Accountable for delivering operational risk reviews within the agreed upon timeframes
  • Develops clear and concise written deliverables
  • Participate in special projects as required
  • Coordinates with the other 2nd line and 3rd functions (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley and audit) to maximize organizational resources and reliance, and minimize impact on the client
  • Be a partner and mentor to all members of the team; challenge and provide advice about risk and control considerations with a constructive and respected style
  • Maintain a strong ongoing relationship with management, regulators, and internal auditors
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline
  • Strong audit background and understanding of full life cycle
  • Minimum 5-10 years audit experience
  • Related professional certification required (e.g., CPA, CIA)
  • Financial industry experience required, with insurance experience preferred
  • Demonstrated team leader; ability to mentor top talent
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through constant changes
  • Consistently execute and follow-through to completion and documentation
  • Prepared to raise tough issues directly with management and present findings with a clear point-of-view
  • Superior communication skills - written and oral
  • Comfortable as part of a global management team with a focus on a high level of communication, coordination, and consistency
  • 5-25% travel may be required throughout the working year.
