Job Summary
Under general supervision, responsible for driving the design and implementation of the underwriting architecture to ensure underwriting strategies are effectively executed across our underwriting models, platforms and channels. Leads and participates in initiatives and special projects, including creation of underwriting rules and development of automated underwriting approaches across flow and low touch models. Partners across Small Commercial with respect to underwriting strategy & execution, user experience initiatives and data sourcing, integration and persistence.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Partner with Select Underwriting leadership to inform portfolio underwriting and outlier management vision and define execution strategy. Lead and drive vision for underwriting architecture and platform execution, ensuring that underwriting strategies are upheld effectively in an automated environment using rules and platform capabilities. Analysis of underwriting book profile and efficacy of automated underwriting systems, identifying and recommending opportunities to develop and improve outlier management techniques. Identify opportunities and design solutions to improve existing rule architecture and enhance outlier management capabilities. Partner with Business Process Effectiveness (BPE), Product, IT and Business Insurance and/or Enterprise Underwriting to ensure proper integration of underwriting strategies and a consistent end-to-end user experience upon the implementation of new initiatives and functionality (e.g. alternative distribution channels, user experience enhancements, question/rule changes, etc.). Build and maintain productive relationships across Select (e.g. Underwriting, BPE) and beyond (e.g. BI/Enterprise Underwriting, IM&A) ensuring proactive engagement with respect to underwriting strategy & execution, user experience initiatives and data sourcing, integration and persistence. Serve as a liaison between business and IT to ensure platform modifications are delivered to specification and are consistent with underwriting and user experience strategies and requisite data is properly persisted;. Participate in or lead Select & Select Underwriting key initiatives (TPP, Comparative Rater, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. 4 years of insurance experience with working knowledge and experience in product, underwriting or coverage required. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
6 years of Business Insurance experience. Product development, underwriting, product management, business analytics or IT experience preferred. Thorough understanding of Business Insurance products, systems, forms, coverage, distribution channels, competitive & regulatory environments and insurance financials. Ability to collect data from data marts or willingness and ability to develop these skills.
