ICW Group is looking for a Data Architect who will play a significant role in understanding, documenting, and designing both physical data stores and integration solutions for ICW Data assets. You may be involved with the development of enterprise level data models or more functional Business level models and conceptual and logical levels. Who You Are

As a Data Architect you will

Understand and document current state data assets (Reverse Engineering, Forensic Data Analysis)

  • Inventorying existing data structures considered ICW data assets structured and unstructured.
  • Responsible for data model & ETL spec version control.
  • Creation of existing and on-going change management of data lineage From/To logic, scheduling, and associated metadata.

Research, design & document new data structures (Conceptual, Logical, Physical)

  • Research Business Requirements and design data structures to support them (Dim Matrix, etc.)
  • Capture & Communicate Business Rules and Glossary information
  • Develop & publish ETL specifications to be managed through change processes.

  • Develop test plan/scenarios and publish test results

Mature & promote Data Governance & MDM processes and standards

  • Provide input to support, promote, and develop Data Governance/Management program
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to establish standards and policies to ensure enterprise information assets are properly secured, protected by appropriate access management and privacy controls
  • Function as an enterprise-wide technical leader, providing coaching, education and career development to staff, as appropriate

Researching Data Quality issues and corroborate with other leaders

  • Assist in developing integrated data solutions to resolve highly complex technical and business issues
  • Act as a high-level technical expert in addressing data-related problems of systems integration, compatibility and multiple-platform
  • Integrate a broad range of ideas, views and innovative solutions regarding database analysis and development into business-centric problem solving
  • Implement data standards and ensure data models are correct and data cleansed for business intelligence environment

No Immediate supervisory responsibilities but you may assist in managing large complex projects and delegate tasks to project team members and external contractors. You may also be providing coaching, training, and mentoring to more junior level resources.

Education Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline from a four-year college or university, plus at least three to seven years related technical experience and/or training.
  • Some experience designing, developing and implementing data architecture deliverables and demonstrable aptitude for learning, leadership, and technical documentation.
  • Some prior experience in the development of one or more of the following skill areas: Data Governance, Data Dictionary; Data warehouse; ETL solutions; Metadata registry; Relational database design; Business Analysis; and/or Structured Query Language (SQL)).
  • Experience with RDBMS and/or semi/un-structured data at rest platforms (SQL Server preferred). At least 2 years of insurance industry experience is desirable. Experience in working with legacy solutions.

Certificates, Licenses:

None are required, however CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) certification from ICCP (Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals) is highly desirable.

We would love for you to have knowledge and skills in these areas:

  • A clear understanding of OLTP and data warehouse 3nf relational design principles.
  • Strong dimensional modeling knowledge
  • Experience in deliverables from conceptual data modeling to physical design
  • Usage of data modeling tools such as erwin (preferred). Ability to evaluate current state data volumes and predict future growth.
  • Ability to scope and triage, clearly communicate, iteratively design/test/research/modify, profile data for understanding, lead requirements gathering sessions, and manage inter-dependent tasks to a schedule.
