Job Description

  • Supervise, train, provide performance feedback and assign duties of direct reports to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Analyze and interpret information to develop and execute continuous quality improvement.
  • Demonstrate successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers.
  • Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage staff to referral ratio of 1 : 48.5 weighted caseload.
  • Span of control to be maintained at a manager to staff ratio of 1 to between 8 and 13.
  • Proactively identify, justify and initiate staffing needs to meet business demands.
  • Work in collaboration with recruiter to identify, screen, interview and recommend new hires.
  • Provide ongoing training and education for team members based on individual and team needs.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled team huddles at least every 2 weeks.
  • Monitor documentation and billing of file activity to ensure adherence to quality and billing standards.
  • Utilize dashboards to monitor work and required activities of case managers.
  • Perform file reviews and QA and provide results and feedback timely to associates.
  • Maintain shared drive folders to organize results and findings with the Sr Management team.
  • Responsible for Time Tracking and Expense Reports for team.
  • All other duties as assigned by Senior Leadership around account, client, management or special projects.

Education

RN, BSN, CCM preferred, other undergraduate degrees allowing a CCM will be considered.

Maintain active nursing license in home state; Willingness to obtain nursing licenses in other states, as requested

Experience

  • Nursing, case management, or other health care profession experience of at least five to ten years and demonstrated expertise with quality assurance and compliance standards and process, rehabilitation, insurance, managed care, workers compensation and outcomes.
  • Minimum of five years experience in supervisory and management principles of health care employees.
  • Minimum of three years experience in workers compensation case management
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in working with individuals and groups.
  • Application of counseling skills in interpersonal behaviors and conflict resolution.
  • Previous experience in marketing, presentation, or sales and account service is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Case Management Code of Conduct.
  • Knowledge of state statutes and laws regarding workers compensation.
  • Knowledge of medical case management program.
  • Knowledge of industry standard case management billing practices
  • Knowledge of patient rights and commitment to patient advocacy.
  • Effective educator skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective crisis management skills.
  • Effective team leadership skills.
  • Ability to collect, document and analyze data.
  • Ability to understand and interface with claim systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Google Suite.
  • Word processing and data entry skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff.
  • Ability to prioritize and work in concert with the Director of Case Management.
  • Strategic thinking, conflict resolution, negotiation, team building and training skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify problems and implement corrective action.
