Job Details

GRM reserving is seeking an Assistant Actuary to be responsible for leading Special Projects across Long-Tailed Lines in GRM (WC, Auto, GL, Umbrella). This is a newly formed position and this person will be Project Manager for several key projects including Planning and Audit support. Responsibilities will also include developing and maintaining Diagnostic Dashboards and Reporting functionality. This person will lead deep dives into areas of concern to identify and quantify risk to ACE. A successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to execute thoroughly in a collaborative and innovative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Project manager for annual Planning work including development of Baselines and Cash Flows

  • Primary contact for annual Audit review, working with the cross-lines team to provide data requested and answer questions, as needed

  • Develop and maintain innovative and streamlined monitoring tools including Diagnostic Dashboard and Reporting (e.g. modified AvE) to provide quick and granular insights by LOB

  • Produce quarterly presentations to Chief Actuaries, including maintaining and updating templates

  • Perform segment reviews and deep dives for areas of concern, working collaboratively with Claims and Product to identify and quantify risk to ACE

  • Build and implement process improvement initiatives in collaboration with line of business teams and cross-functional stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Insurance designations (ACAS/FCAS) desirable.

  • Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, claims, sales, etc

  • Strong communication skills; demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely, and ability to influence senior management and stakeholders

  • Ability to drive teamwork and collaboration across departments and functions

  • Ability to lead projects and get work done through others

  • Ability to establish and build effective relationships within and outside the team
