The Opportunity

Claims Technology Services (CTS) is the Allstate Technology & Strategic Ventures (ATSV) organizations partner to the Property and Casualty Claims organization. CTS works in conjunction with Claims to make enhancements needed to build, maintain, and support software products. The purpose of this relationship is to make those platforms more user-friendly and relevant to the needs of those who directly serve Allstates customers and to support the adjudication of claims. CTS is comprised of teams who build and support a variety of software products, services and business processes; accomplished through integrated partnerships with the Project Management Organization (PMO), Architecture Services, and Quality Control (QC) areas. The ideal candidate has the opportunity to positive impact the claims experience of customers and end-users of Allstate products.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Allstate Insurance Company is looking for a senior developer with .Net programming experience including related technologies such as C#, ASP.NET (Web Forms & MVC), JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, XML, XSLT, HTML5, CSS3, and knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server and ORACLE. The .Net developer will participate in the designing, building and maintaining solutions, working closely with and mentoring peers and product owners to ensure the performance, availability, and stability of the solution.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development of new solutions and features.
  • Provide proactive solutions to address potential issues. Guide team members to reach proactive solutions.
  • Proactively investigate and lead in discussions regarding new technologies and their impact.
  • Build relationships with members of multiple Engineering, Development, Operations, and Architecture organizations.
  • Develop, execute, and document procedures and standards following Agile Scrum/Kanban methodology.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, perform root cause analysis and take appropriate action to remediate issues
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other team members to leverage experience
  • Engage in code reviews of team members code to enforce good engineering practices, ensure maintainability and scalability of code, ensure that regulatory and security requirements are met and enforce coding standards of the team.

Job Qualifications

Required Skills for this position:

  • 5-10 years of experience with C#, ASP.NET (Web Forms & MVC), JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, XML, XSLT, HTML5, CSS3, Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Ajax, and Bootstrap for Responsive Design
  • Strong working knowledge of related technologies such as: Internet Information Server and Active Directory
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, XP, with the ability to transform documented use cases into prototypes and finished solutions, as well as mentor other team members in these practices.
  • Developing applications utilizing .NET framework 4.5.
  • Strong working knowledge of object oriented design.
  • Able to write technical documentation.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to accomplish tasks with minimal direction.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Solid attention to details and highly organized.
  • Relationship building skills.
  • Ability to apply estimation techniques to software development efforts.
  • Strong collaboration skills and desire to work within a team
  • Strong experience with data base design, stored procedures, views, and user-defined functions.
  • Ability to mentor team members in good engineering practices.
  • Ability to perform code reviews and effectively guide team members to ensure solidity and scalability of the final product.

Preferred Skills for this position:

  • Familiarity with the following tools: GitHub, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy, Jira, Pivotal Tracker, MS Teams, Slack
