AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. a fast growing commercial insurance company has an immediate need for an in-house Legal Assistant at our Latham, NY location.
Responsibilities
The ideal applicant would have 3+ years of legal assistant experience in the field of Workers Compensation Law in New York State. An Associate or Bachelors degree and/or Paralegal Certificate is a plus. The legal assistant must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to type 60-70 wpm and must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). This is a deadline-driven work environment, so the ability to manage workload and priorities is essential.
Preparation of pleadings including, but not limited to, hearing/trial reports, deposition reports, subpoenas, filing of relevant claim denial documentation. Coordinating assignments and communications between the Law Office and the claims offices. Inputting and updating relevant information in Firms Legal Management Database system.
Other required duties include providing information to claims professionals and insureds, composing and typing routine correspondence, reading and routing of incoming mail, taking calls from attorneys, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and courts
Qualifications- High school diploma
- A.A. preferred, B.A./B.S., and/or Paralegal Certificate a plus
- Minimum three years experience. Additional relevant experience may substitute for academic degrees
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions from multiple attorneys and prioritize
- Organized, self- motivated, with ability to work independently and with other staff with a great attitude. Experience handling files in civil litigation
- Experience with Time Matters a plus
