ICW Group is looking for a Data Analyst to research business needs and create/build new insight solutions by delivering data sets in intuitive & graphic formats using ICW tool sets. Find opportunities to enhance and/or manage the lifecycle of existing report catalog solutions by becoming familiar with the portfolio and advocating for change. Solutions will include standard and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and various data visualization reporting solutions for end-users. Formulate complex data manipulation and appropriate integration designs. Document, catalog, and manage knowledgebase of report requirements, specifications, and business needs for internal team and business use. Design testing scenarios, follow through, and document results validating reporting data sets & visualizations to ensure accuracy and quality.

Under general direction, this position supports the analysis and design of effective reporting solutions for use in decision support systems such as an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), ODS data marts, various vendor solutions.

Creates report processes

  • Use reporting tools, applications, and/or queries to create and configure new reports and dashboards.
  • Converts, creates, formats and implements a variety of Business Objects webi, Crystal, Excel, & PowerBI reports and dashboards.
  • Understands the information content contained in the data repositories as well as the data definitions and values.
  • Manages the versions of SQL code or stored procedures or workflows (Alteryx) used in reporting improving performance, durability, scalability, and maintainability (adding informative notes).
  • Creates reports and appropriate scheduling which integrate data from multiple sources to aid decision making.
  • Gathers and documents report requirements and captures complex report specifications to meet business needs.
  • Aids in the development of metrics associated with various financial, business management, dashboard and other reports for review by senior/executive management.

Collaborates with various teams to produce viable solutions

  • Works with Data Architect, Business Analysts, Data Integration Engineers, and ICW Information Engineers to build/enhance system documentation, process flows, test plans and other ICW data asset documentation.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues with reporting processes and data inconsistencies, working with system teams to improve data quality and provide temporary workarounds to meet business timelines.
  • Creates testing scenarios that validate the presentation as well as data in reports to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Work to business timeline needs, managing expectations and scope when necessary.
  • Assures consistency in report development approach with standardized tools, templates, methodologies, policies and procedures
  • Provides training and technical support to power users and solution consumers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate degree in IS or data related discipline or at least 2-3 years related technical experience and/or training. Experience designing, developing and testing new and existing reports, ability to track work independently and be able to coordinate work efforts and deliverables. Minimal understanding of data management/data concepts and principles. Familiarity with Insurance industry a plus. Experience with reporting tools Business Objects, Crystal, FOCUS, Alteryx, PowerBI,(these 5 especially), Tableau, Cognos, etc.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Ability to communicate effectively in verbal as well as written form. Must communicate problem solutions clearly and professionally to a business audience in a way business users can understand (e.g., avoiding acronyms and technical terms); have good customer presence and support; and prompt professional follow-through. Must maintain a positive, cooperative working relationship with other team members and customers through professional communication and prompt follow-up to requests. Must be able to articulate technical solutions to the EBI team and Director/ Manager clearly and concisely. Excellent communication skills. Excellent documentation skills. High degree of professionalism and quality required.
