Job Details

The Business Intelligence Developer I will perform design, development, testing, and deployment of key technical solutions to support the goals of our business and is committed to continually represent the high standards of Enterprise Data Services.

Responsibilities:

Design solutions for approved projects and change requests of moderate complexity and risk (10%)

  • Assist in the design of technical data solutions based on provided detailed requirements
  • Assist in all stages of system analysis, data analysis, and development activities

Conduct development activities in support of business and technical objectives (70%)

  • Code, test and implement technical processes in support of analytics, modeling, and reporting
  • Work actively with project managers, senior staff members, management, and business leaders
  • Work within established guidelines, standards, methodologies, and conventions
  • Perform unit testing and regular quality assurance testing
  • Submit solutions for review of compliance with best practices, standards, and enterprise architecture (code review)
  • Perform root cause analysis and defect correction as indicated by test results
  • Evaluate outcomes, report results and document findings according to current standards
  • Meet tight deadlines while managing multiple projects

Perform the implementation of technical solutions (15%)

  • Adhere to Assurant Change Management requirements
  • Consult with experienced personnel and receive guidance on strategies that minimize implementation risk and/or improve system reliability and performance
  • Prepare technical documentation according to implementation requirements
  • Perform solution implementation activities as directed and according to current standards and policies

Provide ongoing support (5%)

  • Provide support within warranty period as needed for implemented solutions
  • Conduct knowledge transfer of new and enhanced solutions to production support team
  • Document incident occurrence and resolution(s) applied using designated repositories
  • Consult with staff personnel as required for effective incident resolution
  • Communicate with all relevant parties during the entire incident to resolution timeline


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS, Analytics or related technical discipline, or degree in non-technical discipline with 2+ years of significant technical experience
  • 1+ years of experience in development using tools such as SQL, R, Python, Power BI, SAS, .NET, Java, etc

Other Experience:

  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices of data warehousing and data analytics
  • Understanding of Data Governance concepts and fundamental strategy
  • High level of technical aptitude and mastery of multiple coding tools and languages
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Excellence in leveraging skills to resolve technical problems and challenges
  • Analysis skills to support technical development and problem resolution
  • Knowledge and experience with technologies and utilities supporting data warehousing, big data, data lake, data analytics, dashboard development, and report development
