Job Summary
Travelers is seeking an experienced email marketing leader to steward the Enterprise Email Team and a cross-functional Email Center of Excellence (CoE) with the mission of helping drive email marketing and servicing excellence across business units.
The Director will execute against specific CoE deliverables designed to ensure that Travelers email marketing and servicing capabilities are best-in-class from the perspective of strategy, best practices, design, analytics, data management and technology.
In addition, the Director will develop and execute against email channel strategies in collaboration with marketing business owners for business units that manage email marketing centrally through the enterprise (e.g. Middle Market Business Insurance).
The successful candidate has deep experience with driving performance-marketing-oriented email programs at scale, utilizing marketing automation techniques to create effective messaging streams, leveraging the latest cloud-based email technology platforms-Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a strong plus-and working with data and technology teams to create efficient list-hygiene processes that maximize the percentage of customers, prospects and independent agents that the company can reach via email while capturing and/or integrating relevant information to drive ever increasing personalization.
Having a genuine passion for creating effective customer-centric email programs, working with creative and technical partners and leading a dynamic team to help drive innovation in an industry in transition will have a significant impact on the fit and success of the new Director.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Email Center of Excellence
Lead cross-functional work streams and effectively influence, delegate and socialize joint deliverables to meet key milestones
Co-lead the migration plan to Salesforce Marketing Cloud with Salesforce Admin from e-Business
Partner with marketing and data teams of individual BUs as well as enterprise data team(s) to ensure that marketing requirements are part of longer term agent and customer data improvement initiatives and relevant data integration and targeting efforts are operationalized for email practitioners across the company
Evangelize email marketing strategies, creative templates and best practices, consulting with all practitioners across the company to present a unified view of Travelers to agents, customers and prospects via email
Partner with other marketing leaders to develop and operationalize joint agent marketing calendars, with an eye toward centralized email planning and coordination across business units, including customer marketing and customer experience email programs
Partners with Director of Digital Marketing Analytics to align email performance measurement model to Enterprise approach and to integrate email metrics with holistic campaign and dashboard views
Develop tools, training and learning agenda to raise the efficiency and effectiveness of email across the company
Help demonstrate the business impact of email marketing and servicing through effective measurement strategies
Channel Lead of Enterprise Email Team:
Co-lead email marketing planning and calendar development process with marketing business partners
Lead two email marketing and operations managers to execute campaigns in accordance with best practices in email marketing
Leverage personalization and Salesforce Marketing Cloud Journeys to improve email performance and relevance
Develop actionable reporting for business partners and field sales teams, where relevant
Define and meet email KPIs in service of business objectives, and continually work to tie email programs to business KPIs (e.g. sales, cost savings)
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience.
Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Minimum of 5 years of experience with email marketing, 6-8 years preferred
At least 2 years of management experience
Deep, hands-on experience with cloud-based marketing platforms, with Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience preferred
Deep experience as a digital marketer with thorough knowledge of data-driven content marketing
Experience managing campaigns of a significant list size and brand is a strong plus
Experience in insurance and/or financial services desirable.
General knowledge on how to research and target wants/needs of various audiences.
