Underwriting Assistant - This position will be located in our FTW office temporarily, and then will transition to our new facilities in Dallas (June 2019)

Candidates must be willing to travel to FTW for the position until June 2019. Then they will report to our new office space at 635/Tollway area in Dallas.

Position Summary: Performs a variety of complex administration tasks within established process and quality guidelines by complying data, performing routine tasks and processing standard renewal business and endorsements.

Job Duties

  • Underwrite renewal business within assigned authority on a monthly basis.
  • Generate Renewal reminders; follow-up on pending and indicated accounts, communicate with producer on quoted renewals to request customer decision. Process and electronically deliver notices of non-renewal and conditional renewal within state defined timeframe.
  • Process state and federal filings on accounts required for this type of coverage.
  • Initiate request for outstanding information; perform follow-up on necessary requested information.
  • Approve and process endorsement requests within defined level of authority.
  • Respond to service inquires from agents via phone or email, research and resolve and/or correct errors or customer issues.
  • Maintain agent communication regarding service and billing inquiries.
  • Keep manager informed of activities and/or problems within assigned area of responsibility; refers matter beyond limits of authority.

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Three to five years of experience in the position of underwriting assistant or related underwriting support position preferably in the commercial insurance line of business.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work in a team environment and be flexible to daily changing needs and job duties.
  • Ability to understand business needs and translate into process/system requirements for communication to others.
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve, working closely with others to coordinate and complete daily, weekly and monthly processes.
  • Working knowledge of standard insurance concepts, practices and procedures with ability to effectively communicate with underwriters, peers and management.
