How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

The Senior Financial Analyst will build strong partnerships with business managers to develop, implement, and manage expenses that are aligned with the business strategy. Perform a variety of financial studies, analyze and report interrelationships of financial information. Reconcile expenses based upon Brighthouse Financial and internal expense management guidelines. Determine validity of data and provide supporting explanations. Perform a number of daily/weekly/monthly tasks. Work effectively and diligently to resolve issues. Work on ad-hoc projects as assigned. Candidates with an investment accounting background will be considered a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain monthly Forecasts and Annual Budgets for various departments across the organization.
  • Exhibits and is recognized for a high-level of financial expertise gained through a series of professional assignments and ongoing career development.
  • Supports financial management as a key internal consulting resource.
  • Prepare financial reports by downloading information from single or multiple sources; compile databases and formulate spreadsheets; interpret trends, analyze results and explain to both Business and Finance Management.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries as necessary; included but not limited to accruals, re-class and other changes.
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of proposed Budgets for review and approval by leadership.
  • Input data into BPC for both Budget and Monthly Forecasts.
  • Provide variance commentary for YTD, QTD and SEQ Actual results as well as Actuals vs. Forecasts. This will also include analysis by Segment and Legal Entity.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our Business Partners.
  • Expand or modify existing processes to improve efficiencies.
  • Special projects and Ad-hoc analysis as needed.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 3+ years experience with Financial Budgeting, Forecasting, Reporting & Analysis preferably in the insurance industry.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues independently.
  • Working knowledge of accounting concepts, principles and practices.
  • Experience with general ledgers (SAP), AO reporting tool and Cost Allocation a plus.
  • Demonstrates strong financial and analytical skills and problem solving.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills using MS Excel including advanced functions such as pivot tables, lookup and index match.
  • Sound judgement, professionalism and discretion.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Sensitive to deadlines and strive to deliver quality information in a timely manner while handling multiple priorities.
  • Strong business analytical abilities, attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate/converse with Senior Level Management.
  • Flexible, adaptable and ability to perform responsibilities in a demanding and fast paced environment.
  • Work effectively individually as well as part of the team dynamic.
