If you can manage complex and problematic high visibility workers' compensation claims, within company standards, best practices and specific customer service requirements, you will want to be part of the new CorVel Team! Essential Job Duties

  • Receives claim, confirms policy coverage and acknowledgement of the claim.
  • Determine validity and compensability of the claim by investigating and gathering information regarding the claim and the file necessary documentation with the state agencies.
  • Establish reserves and authorize payments within reserving authority limits.
  • Develop and manage well documented action plan with the attorney, supervisor and client to reduce overall cost of the claim.
  • Coordinating early return-to-work efforts.
  • Negotiates settlements when necessary.
  • Actively manage the litigation process.
  • Identifies potential subrogation claims.
  • Communicate claim status with the customer and claimant.
  • Adhere to client guidelines and participate in claims review as needed.
  • Develops and maintains professional customer relationships.
  • Additional duties to help the team.

Education/Training Requirements

  • Knowledge of the entire self-insured claims administration, and cost containment solution as applicable to Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, and South Dakota Workers Compensation.
  • Thorough knowledge of appropriate insurance principles and laws for workers compensation recoveries and offsets.
  • Tremendous oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Great interpersonal skills.
  • Effective analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently.
  • Four year degree at an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Three (3) years of Workers' Compensation claims management experience required.
