Under general direction this position is responsible for leading and coaching a team of other legal professionals in the review, analysis and auditing of outside counsel invoices. Ensures the Legal Invoice Review team appropriately collaborates with Travelers colleagues managing claims or matters and outside counsel regarding invoice reductions. Participates in Legal Resource Management (LRM) quality reviews to ensure direct reports are consistently delivering high-quality service to achieve optimal outcomes for Travelers and its insured's. Reinforces the LRM vision, strategies and objectives through leading, mentoring and developing staff. This job is a Manager: Responsible for setting work objectives and goals for employees and managing their performance. Typically involved in compensation decisions. Employees have a formal reporting relationship to this job. This job works under General Direction: Establishes procedures for attaining specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work. Generally final results are reviewed. (Typically applies to a manager or expert/top level professional.)

Leads a team of responsible for ensuring law firm invoices comply with Travelers' billing policies and department specific direction and are otherwise reasonable. Manages workflow and resource allocation ensuring daily and weekly productivity goals are aligned with LRM expectations Accountable for processing appeals of invoice reductions while maintaining law firm relationships. Leverages management information, analytics and technology to drive performance improvement and sharing observations and trends with the team and senior management. Works collaboratively in a team environment. Develops and directs the strategies and business plans of the LRM group and various business partners. Identifies new improvement or innovative opportunities and understands, assesses and removes barriers to success. Engages in and maintains relationships with claim professionals and other matter owners, law firms and, as appropriate, insureds and other vendor partners. Maintains deep knowledge and familiarity with trends in Legal environment across all lines of business. Participates in regular LRM quality reviews to ensure optimal team and individual direct report performance and provide appropriate feedback and coaching. Perform other duties as assigned.

Doctorate (Academic) Bachelor's Level Degree Experience with one or more electronic billing technologies Experience at an insurance carrier reviewing/auditing outside counsel's legal bills Experience managing one or more remote employees Prior experience with insurance coverage or claims and related litigation Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and analytical skills Strong organization, multi-tasking and time management skills Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills Proven track record of working with various stakeholders (internal/external) to achieve goals Leadership exerience

Recognize and track billing trends and share with the team and senior leadership. Teamwork: Builds and maintains working relationships with peers and other professionals across organizational lines. Stay current with legal trends, regulations and court rulings pertaining to legal invoice reviews. Planning and Organization: Strong organizational and time management skills. Advanced attention to detail ensuring accuracy. Problem Solving: Applies critical thinking and synthesizes information to identify key issues and make decisions. Effectively work through conflict and resolve issues with a professional demeanor. Demonstrate sound business judgment when proposing new ideas and evaluating escalated issues.

A minimum of 8 years experience working with litigation and legal billing practices, civil court rules and procedures and the state and federal court systems or 10 Years of handling complex claim litigation.
