Assurant is now seeking a Product Support Analyst for the Miami, FL office

This job is responsible submitting filings to the insurance departments for approval and sending out internal distributions and updating State Filings system with the filing information. The core responsibilities of this role are very technical in nature and require a comfort and ability to work with various technologies. Position will be responsible for making minor modifications to product forms. The position will be working directly with the Product Compliance Analyst and Sr Product Compliance Analysts roles to facilitate product changes required by regulatory change or at the request of the business.

1. Internal Distribution and Storage of Filings (50%) Once filing is approved, analyst must feed the information from SERFF to the State Filings System. For exempt filings, the analyst must load the information into the State Filings System. In the State Filings system, the analyst must complete supplemental data, replacement and marketed product association information to store the filing package(s). Analyst will generate a distribution memo and publish the information for internal users to search in the State Filings system.

2. Submit filings to Insurance Departments (40%) Analyst submits new products, product enhancements or compliance revisions to the Insurance Departments for review and approval. This function requires the analyst to prepare filing letters, checklists, certifications and transmittals required by the state. Analyst must populate screens in SERFF and load all the forms and documents to be sent electronically to the states. For exempt filings, analyst must prepare Filing Assessment Memo (FASM) with backup for why the filing is exempt from review by the Insurance Department and provide to management for approval.

3. Form Revision (10%) Based on need, analyst will facilitate minor form revisions based on direction from Product Compliance Analysts. Changes will be based on an internal product write-up that outlines the regulatory change and explains, in detail, the revisions that are required to be made to the current forms, rates and rules.

For the first year, a new analyst would work mainly on the internal distributions and SERFF filings. The individual would work under supervision following detailed verbal and/or written instructions. After the first year it would be expected that the analysts knowledge is such that they will begin working on minor form revisions.

The individual is required to complete core Insurance courses within the first 6 months of employment. Course will vary depending on the product line the individual will support.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in submitting filings a plus.
  • Paralegal or Insurance designation a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively perform duties.
  • Time-management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize work activities to accomplish assigned duties by set deadlines to deliver on customer and company expectations.
  • Ability to balance compliance with business and company strategies and directives. Support Assurant goals; think beyond current role and think like a customer.
  • Ability to perform detailed work.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding ability to make decisions or recommendations on incomplete information. Make sound business decisions by gathering data, and then taking action in a decisive and timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal ability to effectively interact with internal employees, insurance departments and external representatives. Collaborate and form relationships to achieve goals and seek viewpoint from others to create new solutions.
  • A working knowledge of insurance terminology and the ability to perform insurance regulation research. Willingness to take on-the-job classes or outside insurance courses to broaden knowledge.
