AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., a fast growing commercial insurance company, has an immediate need for an in-house legal assistant to work in our Irvine staff counsel office.

• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to type 40-45 wpm and must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Experienced in preparation of pleadings including, but not limited to, motions, subpoenas, notices, hearings, and judicial counsel forms.
• Coordination/scheduling of meetings, Court hearings, appointments, and depositions.
• Experience with e-filing procedures in State and Federal Courts.

Other required duties include providing information to claims professionals and insureds, composing and typing routine correspondence, data entry, reading and routing of incoming mail, taking calls from attorneys, claims professionals, opposing counsel, etc.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• 3+ years minimum experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and work in a paperless environment.
• Ability to create and maintain a heavy litigation calendar.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the firm.
• Organized, self- motivated, with ability to work independently with a great attitude.
• Experience handling files, including preparing letters.
• Proficient with State and Federal Court and e-filing procedures
• Familiarity with California Code of Civil Procedure rules and requirements relating to all stages of litigation.
