Job Summary
Facilitate sourcing data from a variety of different sources (internal and external), preparing it at the 'right speed' for analytic consumption. Incumbents use advanced analytical tools to perform exploratory analysis of data to determine business viability.

This position will work in partnership with Customer Experience and Business Intelligence Professionals to analyze voice of customer and related data that will inform and improve products, processes and behaviors to help achieve positive business outcomes.

This position will explore and profile data, draw business inferences, complete analyses and clearly articulate findings for different target audiences. Incumbents are accountable for performing core tasks of Descriptive Analytics (the exploration and investigation of past and current business performance).

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

Data Acquisition, Prep and Exploration:
Work with team members to acquire data, and make recommendations for more complex acquisitions.

Assists with unfamiliar data.

Under supervision reviews, prepares, basic design, and integrates data, correcting minor problems and implements data cleansing/quality solutions.

Understands Travelers standards, processes, and protocols.

Applies and develops basic data derivations, business transformation rules, and data requirements.

Works as member of teams.

Able to identify task lists of projects and manage with assistance of others.

Performs analysis of sources to determine value and use.

Builds simple data visualizations techniques to help support data exploration.

Continues to develop business knowledge while learning how work assignments address business issues.

Seeks opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.

Builds, tests, and implements simple analytic business products, including pilots and proof of concepts.

Applies knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions within the context of assigned projects.

Analytic Support:
Assists in training business users on data products/analytic environment. Delivers basic training.

Ensures customer satisfaction through professional communication, follow-up, and responsiveness to issues.

Consultation:
Shares knowledge with peer users on data or analytic products.

Identifies, selects and extracts relevant data from various internal and external sources.

Manipulates raw data sets into information fit for analysis, monitors data to recognize patterns, and analyzes trends. Presents analysis and recommendations to supervisors.

Develops reporting to monitor business critical results, and transitions to appropriate area for ongoing production i.e. information development and or data management.

Provides required analysis, through partnership with Customer Experience and Management Information Professionals.

Contributes to completing reasonability and validation tests using general business knowledge.

Utilizes established best practices around Descriptive Analytics.

May provide input into best practices.



Minimum Qualifications
1 year of relevant experience with data tools, techniques, and manipulation required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
2+ years of relevant experience with data tools, techniques, and manipulation preferred.

Bachelors degree or equivalent education and 2+ years analytics experience

2+ years of relevant experience with data tools, techniques, and manipulation preferred.

2+ years working successfully with Microsoft office products and software/programming applications (data visualization, statistics related, etc.).

General knowledge of Descriptive Analytic practices and processes.

General knowledge related to Voice of Customer programs including survey design and text mining preferred.

General knowledge of Insurance products/concepts preferred.

General knowledge of the main features of the collection of data and the relationship of data elements to each other.

Basic business acumen.
Intermediate to advanced computer Skills in Excel, database programming language and related applications. (Preferred: Data Visualization tools like QlikView, Statistical packages like SPSS)
Basic problem solving skills. Able to recognize and analyze business and data issues of moderate complexity with supervision.
Ability to interact effectively with others across functions.
Ability to consider others' ideas seriously and accept feedback.
Basic knowledge of data tools, techniques, and manipulation preferred.
