National Insurance Actuarial is seeking an Actuary who will be responsible for providing pricing support to the Northeast and East Divisions for National Insurance Casualty (NIC) and Middle Market (MM). This candidate will be a key resource and trusted advisor to the NIC & MM management teams. This position will manage a team of 6-7 actuarial and business analysts that provide account level pricing support to NIC & MM underwriters. The role will focus on providing high quality analyses and effectively recognizing and communicating key outcomes to support profit, growth, and operational objectives for NIC & MM. The successful actuary will possess strong analytical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to execute thoroughly in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear and concise communication of technical actuarial work to senior level management within National Insurance
  • Perform complex actuarial analyses to assist business decision making and strategy development.
  • Work with underwriting to provide account level support such as loss forecasts, security calculations, rate change calculations, LPT/buyouts, pricing model support, etc.
  • Perform regular analyses on our NIC & MM book to support profitable growth.
  • Collaborate with NIA Reserving on planning, as well as their evaluation of NIC & MM segments
  • Collaborate with NIA Modeling Teams on Pricing tools used by Underwriting.
  • Manage staff of credentialed actuaries, actuarial students and/or business analysts

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) required
  • Typically 0-2 years post-fellowship. Overall 5-7 years of progressively more responsible experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, claims, sales, etc
  • Strong communication skills; demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely, and ability to influence senior management and stakeholders
  • Desire to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment, responding to business demands and a changing marketplace.
  • Ability to drive teamwork and collaboration across departments and functions
  • Ability to lead and get work done through others; selects and develops staff members
  • Ability to establish and build effective relationships within and outside the organization.
