About the Team

The selection group is a small team of I/O psychologists and other HR professionals within Liberty Mutual Insurance, a Fortune 100 company with 45,000 employees in 900 offices worldwide. Our main focuses include pre-hire assessments and selection processes from front-line to executive.

Job Summary:

As a SummerConsultant, you will work with a small group of consultants on a project team, guided by an experienced PhD, to advise Liberty Mutual in making strategic decisions. Projects are typically in the areas of innovation, analytics, vendor assessment, selection strategy and interviewing processes.

Along with up-front training you will partner with an experienced selection team member who will support your development and serve as a mentor. Through your project work, you will develop key thought-partner relationships with leaders across the organization.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding assessment issues faced by theclient and the role of your team in addressing those issues

  • Designing work plans, conducting targeted research, and collecting data from various internal and external sources (e.g. executive interviews and workshops, customer surveys)

  • Performing high-impact analysis and evaluating alternative solutions
  • Crafting storylines that clearly articulate findings, insights, and recommendations

  • Building and owning relationships with key stakeholders

  • Directing stakeholders towards consensus points & gaining buy-in

  • Utilizing adept mentoring, coaching, and influencing skills to inspire others and resolve challenging relationship management situations, collaborating on approaches with manager

Qualifications:

The group is looking for smart, energetic, well-rounded self-starter who is a team-players and possess a strong desire to learn.

Candidates should, at minimum, possess the following:

  • Currently enrolled in an I/O program with a minimum of one year towards completion of a graduate degree with a demonstrated record of success

  • Strong critical thinking skills with ability to apply judgment during analysis about how components fit together and with bigger picture

  • Ability to leverage experience and analysis to gain support and influence others

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and written and oral communication skills

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team, as well as coach junior team members

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel

  • Ability to manage multiple projects or priorities
