Our Risk Manager at Dart will work towards anticipating possible events in order to protect the company’s employees, its reputation or its assets and then determine the best options to address them. In this role, you’ll contribute to Dart’s strategic plans by maximizing profits for the longer term, improving administrative efficiencies, strategically developing our people and improving customer relationships.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Assist with the placement, negotiation and maintenance of global insurance programs, both captive and third party
  • Manage annual renewals of insurance programs, including participation in renewal meetings, presentations and strategy discussions
  • Direct the management of the insurance program administration, including certificates of insurance, bonds, state filings, exposure collection and tracking, etc.
  • Manage strategic oversight of all claims programs
  • Manage Third Party Administrator (TPA) relationship
  • Maintain oversight on claims processes to ensure that claims are being settled fairly, consistently and in in accordance with Dart’s corporate values
  • Development and administration of loss trending and analysis reports for field and operational distribution
  • Prepare analysis of accident causes to target resources for program improvement
  • Track, monitor and analyze insurance, risk and claims programs to determine Dart’s total cost of risk profile
  • Under direction from management, research and recommend new programs that support both company and department strategic initiatives
  • Assist business partners with a review of risk related and/or insurance related provisions in contracts to avoid improper assumption of risk
  • Review risk management programs for effectiveness and make recommendations for new and/or improved programs to support proactive risk and loss control programs to reduce costs and mitigate company exposures

Core Skills and Qualifications:

Our ideal Risk Manager must possess all of the following:

  • Requires the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, risk management or related field of study
    • Ten (10) years of relevant industry experience with specific experience in the areas of: regulatory compliance, commercial lines of property, casualty and workers’ compensation programs, and claims management.
    • Five (5) years of management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups or work teams, and explain difficult issues
  • Excellent analytical and reasoning skills with the ability to research problems independently and evaluate appropriate solutions
  • Ability to effectively present to an audience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business, finance, insurance, risk management or related field of study
  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or other relevant professional certification
  • Experience managing workers compensation, property and casualty claims programs
  • Experience working with captive insurance companies
  • Familiarity with corporate safety programs, OSHA and DOT safety-related requirements
