Drift is a new car sharing platform focused on improving mobility and reducing the cost of car ownership. We give car owners a way to earn extra income from their idle cars and connect drivers with a convenient, affordable way to drive a car when they want.

Job Description

On the Design Team, our mission is to relentlessly understand car owner and drivers needs to iteratively create a compelling and useful transportation experience. As a Car Sharing Sr. UI Product Designer, you are seen as a leader in the creative team to bring the digital experience for car sharing to life. You will play a key role in the creation, iteration and development of interactive and visual assets for the iOS, Android and responsive web experiences. You are seen as a leader of the design process from creating new interaction concepts to creating the finished product including the creation of wireframes and clickable prototypes. You will lead a design team and apply user-centered design methods to frame and deliver the experience of the products we build to be useful, usable and enjoyable.

Job Responsibilities

  • Problem solve, think big, and explore divergent concepts/ideas while understanding how to converge and build iteratively towards a greater vision.
  • Design the end to end digital user experience process
  • Create high quality UX deliverables which deliver on product outcomes
  • Create rapid iterations of design prototypes that can be frequently tested and validated with users
  • Produce materials for clients and developers, including user flows, wireframes, mock-ups, live style guides, and assets
  • Conduct appropriate user research and analysis methods to answer the research questions at hand
  • Evolve on-going enhancement of the team UX design methodologies.
  • Guide product decisions through user research, customer development, and iterative feedback loops.
  • Coach and lead a team of junior designers
  • Create project plans to scope work for effort level and resource with team
  • Build strong relationships with engineering, product management, research and content partners.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest design trends, newest digital platforms and competitive landscape and apply best practices to all work.
  • Advocate for design by sharing your work and presenting cross-functionally, while being able to precisely articulate design rationale.
  • Inspire the entire team (including your cross-functional partners) by bringing new ideas to the table to continually test, learn and launch.
  • Craft and tell the UX story for leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Evolve the shape of the product with research and data while executing design work using high quality wireframes, mockups, user journeys, and cross-platform interactive prototypes.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree or higher in design, computer science, information sciences, psychology, human factors and or HCI preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years design experience with iOS, Android or ecommerce

Functional Skills

  • Ability to work well in a highly collaborative, team-based environment
  • Ability to design and envision experiences iteratively in a lean environment
  • Maintain a user-centered approach in design perspective and practice
  • Experience leading teams of designers through the creative process.
  • Guide product decisions through user research, customer development, and iterative feedback loops.
  • Ability to manage senior project stakeholders (internal & client) to help shape, define and manage ongoing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Exhibit exceptional communication and leadership skills. The ability to effectively present and explain design decisions to team, users and stakeholders.
  • Know how to bring multiple stakeholders to the table to understand and solve problems.
  • An ability to take complicated workflows and make them elegant, with the patience to build something magical.
  • Able to juggle multiple top-priority tasks and efficiently focus on delivery.
  • Familiarity with UX trends, methodologies and expert skill with UX tools.
  • Experience in developing rapid prototypes and learn through building.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate the rationale behind your design decisions and influence key stakeholders.
  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit and arent afraid to stand up for what they believe is the right product based on user feedback
  • Have an interest in innovation and an unquenchable thirst to continually learn new technologies and design skills/methods within the digital space.
  • Expertise in interaction design/information architecture and proficient in at least one of the following UX disciplines: User Research, Visual Design or Front-end development.
  • Have experience designing full-service consumer and business applications.
  • Have experience working independently with clients or stakeholders and demonstrable experience of building successful business relationships.
  • Experience creating HTML, CSS, JavaScript, LESS, SASS, and/or Angular code is desired.
  • A great asset would be front-end development skills.
  • Experience working in fast paced continuous delivery environment
  • A willingness to fail and learn
  • Strong track record of designing and shipping digital experiences.
