Job Summary
This position has dual reporting into the VP Small Commercial and the Business Insurance Field Vice President (BI FVP). There are shared accountabilities with Small Commercial Product Management to drive strategic sales and distribution in support of the assigned Select Region. There is alignment with the VP, Middle Market Distribution to ensure strategic direction for sales and distribution in support of the Middle Market business objectives. The Select Sales Directors, Technology Sales Executives, Public Sector Territory Managers and regional field Business Development Director will report to this role, as well as maintaining dual alignment with Middle Market leadership.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
In alignment with the BI FVP and Select Field VP, sets the sales and distribution strategic direction for the Region with active engagement in strategic business discussions and decisions impacting the business unit.
Directs the achievement of financial and operational objectives through effective planning and analysis of Regional results to ensure profitable growth. Accountable for regional profit and loss results.
Leader of all Select Agency distribution, and in partnership with BI Field Leadership team the lead fordistribution and sales for the region. FLOW Champion for the region.

In concert with the Select Underwriting and BI Business Centers will continue ensuring excellence in setting and achieving performance standards.

Extensive knowledge of competitor products and capabilities as well as marketplace dynamics and market trends.Works closely with BI Field partners to identify business opportunities on behalf of Business Insurance and the Enterprise, support Relationship Manager roles within the region, collaborate on agency compensation plans and actively participate in regional Profit Center meetings.

Builds and maintains valued internal /external business partnerships within Select, Business Insurance, the Enterprise, and external constituencies as appropriate.

In concert with the VP, Middle Market Distribution drive the MM field's strategic and tactical efforts in the development and promotion of productive distributor relationships. Provide direct management for execution of sales activities such as new business development, sales support and customer retention.

Has an active and collaborative partnership with HR around recruiting plans and staff development in order to attract and retain top talent. Works closely with leaders on developing bench strength for all key positions. Staff management functions include, but not limited to, coaching, training, planning and performance management in a supportive, team oriented, collaborative manner.
Shares talent management responsibilities with the BI FVP and other Enterprise leaders for the benefit of the organization as a whole.

Minimum Qualifications
7 years of Account Executive/ underwriting experience required. Supervisory experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
10+ years of progressively responsible experience in business insurance discipline. Commercial Lines or Personal Lines Underwriting, Product, or General Industry experience required. Strong agency management experience preferably in small and middle market agency distribution. Strong general Management background with P & L accountability. Exceptional organization, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, problem solving, interpersonal, time management, verbal and written communication skills. Bachelors degree required and MBA or Masters Degree preferred.

Knowledge of Select and Middle Market product, operations, and agency distribution. Solid experience building an organization, teams and attracting and developing top talent. Ability to create and sustain a dynamic workplace. Excellent sales skills and ability to coach and mentor. Deep understanding and appreciation for business, analytics and technology. Demonstrated strong decision making ability. Effective oral and written communication skills and solid platform / facilitation skills. Strong analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking skills to understand and anticipate the impact and opportunities across multiple disciplines to drive units objectives. Develops business case analysis in support of strategic objectives and influences others to take recommended actions. Translates vision and strategy into actionable plans. Strong collaboration and experience in developing working relationships with senior management and core business functions across the Enterprise. Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts by finding acceptable solutions to business problems. Leads innovation and execution of new solutions to market challenges. Demonstrates ability to set high performance culture and achieve results at an exceptional level.
