RISK SERVICES DEPARTMENT

JOB SUMMARY:

Represents Safety National (SN) in a professional manner consistent with the goals and objectives of the Company and the Risk Control Department.  Primarily responsible for managing risk control services on a portfolio of accounts.  Provides technical advice and account information to underwriting and business development for risk assessment and analysis.  Assists with developing new resources and enhancing existing resources.  Represents SN as a thought leader on risk control subjects through public speaking and content development.  Works independently under limited supervision.

Field Office Assignment:    

This position is based out of the San Francisco field office serving primarily the Northern California territory with some travel in other parts of the Northwest Region and eastward as needed.  This position will work with internal Safety National personnel (i.e. underwriting, business development, other) to support new and renewal business as well as provide Risk Control services as described below.

Account Service Management:

Responsible for coordinating the provision of risk control services and the education of client services programs on assigned accounts, which may require moderate overnight travel.

 

Establish and maintain relationships on assigned accounts where risk control services will be provided.

 

Coordinate the provision of risk control services on assigned accounts by utilizing third-party Risk Control Consultants or internal resources.

 

Manage relationships with outside Risk Control Consultants.

Client Services: Promote and present client services programs on assigned accounts; Assist with developing and implementing new resources, and enhancing existing resources.

Regulatory Compliance: Manage state loss control compliance requirements on assigned accounts; Manage the completion of risk control compliance reports and audits for assigned state(s).

General Responsibilities:

Support Underwriting by conducting risk control reviews of accounts.

Demonstrate thought leadership through public speaking or content development on subject matter expertise.

 

Provide Risk Control and Client Services capabilities presentations to clients.

Serve as a risk control technical resource to Risk Control, Underwriting and Business Development.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work closely with the Risk Control, Business Development, Claims and Underwriting departments to promote a team effort and maintain a cohesive message in the marketplace.

Adhere to Company travel guidelines when planning business trips.

Provide reports, expense accounts, and additional requested information accurately and on a timely basis.

May manage one value-added resource, which includes oversight, leadership, enhancement, and vendor management.

May attend industry conferences as an exhibitor to promote services.

Work on special projects as assigned by supervisor or senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in safety management, hard sciences, or equivalent.

Industry designations such as ALCM, ARM, CRM, or CSP are preferred.

At least 10-15 years risk control or safety management experience, with a minimum 5-7 years insurance industry risk control experience relative to Workers’ Compensation.  Experience with other lines of coverage such as Auto Liability or General Liability is desirable.

Extensive knowledge of workers’ compensation insurance, OSHA regulations, and safety / risk control management techniques.

Proficiency in Windows-based computer software systems and programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Experience with online presentation applications (WebEx, GoToWebinar, etc.) is a plus.

                Excellent oral, written, and communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.

Requires someone professional, dependable, organized, motivated, efficient, and accountable with a mature attitude.

Must be able to prioritize tasks and work on multiple items simultaneously.

Must be able to use a personal laptop computer, telephone, and Smartphone.

Must be able to travel overnight regularly to client locations via airplane and rental car, and stay at hotels.

Must be able to use their personal vehicle for travel where mileage is paid.
