Job Summary
You will bring innovative concepts to life with a keen attention to detail and awareness of the user's context. You will partner with collaborative, cross-functional teams to research, design, test and implement digital experiences. You will build visual identities and experiences for new ventures and bring new solutions to core customers by applying existing design systems. You will craft and advocate for designs that are human, seamless, and delightful.


Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Serves as the key point of accountability for UI efforts within a diverse innovation team of progressive business, design and technology professionals.

Designs front end UI for responsive web applications and mobile native interfaces. Develops web front end HTML/CSS assets. Creates and oversees delivery of artifacts that include personas, journey maps, user workflows, information architecture, wireframes, and interactive prototypes, within project timelines and budgets.

Advocates for user-centered design approaches. Helps partners see why good design matters.

Helps to create and evolve design systems and best practices that account for user needs and context, while reinforcing brand values and standards.

Ensures adherence to UX guidelines across programs and projects.

Works collaboratively with business, technology, marketing and outside advertising partners. Owns the entire lifecycle of UI design and development including: ideation, prioritization, development, and quality assurance.

Navigates ambiguity and brings clarity to ideas through rapid experimentation and prototyping. Is accustomed to iterating and developing alternate designs based on team's hypotheses and user feedback.

Helps to create a dynamic team environment by fostering collaboration, experimentation, agility, and vigorous inquiry, while maintaining high expectations and attention to detail.

Plans and conducts user research, usability testing efforts, and competitive research and analysis. Reports research findings to stakeholders. Translates these findings into design solutions.

Ensures research, visual design, information architecture, and interaction design roles are adequately resourced. Helps to recruit and grow a team of outstanding UX/UI professionals by providing vision, coaching, and mentorship. May manage vendor relationships for outsourced UX/UI activities.

Performs other duties as needed to advance innovation efforts.


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, psychology, human factors, social sciences or related field or 5 years of User Experience work experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Typical incumbent experience level 8+ years Experience advocating for user design at an organizational level.

The following is preferred, but not required:
  • Familiarity with mobile native toolkits- react-native, nativescript, etc.
  • Familiarity with versioning tools, e.g. git, github, svn, subversion, mercurial, etc.
  • Content creation: basic copywriting, photography, video editing, etc
  • Experience designing for emerging and non-visual technologies - voice assistants, chatbots, etc


Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
Excellent UI execution skills, including:
  • Interface design tools, e.g. Sketch, Figma, etc.
  • Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator
  • HTML5, CSS3 and build tools, e.g. webpack, yarn, npm
  • Experience with wireframing/prototyping software, e.g. InVision, Axure, Balsamiq, etc.
  • Familiarity with Javascript/ECMAscript (ES6/7/Next) a big plus - node.js, express, Vue.js, or react, etc.
Experience implementing designs and collaborating with agile development teams.
Expert in conducting end user research and interviews.
Outstanding communication, organization, time management and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to instill usability as a core value within a large organization's culture.
