Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the growth and profitability of assigned specialty excess product lines through marketing, underwriting and managing of products and services for complex risks.
• Analyze and underwrite new and renewal businesses subject to established underwriting guidelines.
• Target, market and solicit opportunities throughout the retail broker markets in the assigned territory. Achieve all in-house service goals for policy issuance and file documentation.
• Achieve proficiency in all legacy and future information management systems including MFX, PFW & UWP.
• Develop new and existing broker relationships to increase premium and submission flow.
• Prepare quotes, binders and review policies and endorsements for accuracy. Travel required up to 25%.

Qualifications:

The position requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Business, Mathematics, or a related field PLUS five (5) years of experience in the job offered, or in a related occupation. The position requires five (5) years of experience with each of the following: underwriting in the Casualty field; retail broker relationships in the Western United States with Marsh, Aon, Willis, Lockton and AJ Gallagher; handling existing book of excess casualty renewal accounts and producing new business; D&B, AM Best, Silverplume, Verdict Search, E-Reinsurance, SAFER, and Edgar/SEC; and business-related software including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Powerpoint. Must also have a current California P&C Insurance Brokers License. Travel required up to 25%.
