Under general supervision, this job is responsible for settling total loss claims by conducting vehicle valuations in situations where the settlement amount is disputed by the customer. This job is responsible for researching discrepancies, and reviewing and submitting any receipts or other documentation that affect vehicle valuation. This job is also responsible for addressing any customer concerns or questions related to the settlement process.
Job Description
As a Liability Adjuster, you play an important role to Allstate and the customer. You will be investigating single and multi-vehicle auto accidents to deliver compassionate service that is fast, fair and easy. You will be solving problems by collaborating with your team, using technology and data to make decisions. You will also work independently in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while doing significant work by serving our customers.

A Day in the Life:
Investigate claims using cutting edge technology to gather recorded statements, photos and/or the review of police reports to resolve loss.
Document claims through active listening and use of data to summarize liability decisions
Negotiate claim settlement with customers in accordance with business unit standard methodologies
Use data and analytics to problem solve and contribute to team goals by sharing ideas and opinions.
If offered the role, you may go to Wheeling, IL for a two-week training cohort anytime during your first year at Allstate. You will work with other Allstate employees to learn standard methodologies, answer any questions you have, and make career connections.

Customer Service

File Documentation and Reporting
Summarizes documents and enters into claim system notes
Documents a claim file with notes, evaluations and decision making process
Coverage, Liability and Evaluation
Determines applicable coverages in basic claims involving a single claimant and determines applicable coverage limits in basic claims involving multiple claimants
Takes recorded statements from claimants, insureds, witnesses, etc. and prepares summaries
Conducts investigations into minor single and multi-car accidents to obtain additional claims and coverage information and assist in determining liability
Reviews investigation notes and determines claim value, coverage and liability for basic claims
Negotiation and Settlement Guidance
Negotiates and settles claims in accordance with business unit best practices
May include:

Processes titles, including documentation, maintaining logs and contacting banks/lien holders
Damage Estimating
Prepares total loss damage evaluation, determination, and actual cash value of vehicle
Researches valuation of salvage; processes salvage titles, and monitors salvage recoveries
Conditions basic total loss of vehicle and provides report to customer
Claim Payment Processes - Issuance and Authority
Processes claims payments

Initiates system generated checks and pays appropriate parties
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience
Bachelors degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience
Ability to interact effectively with internal or external customers and act with empathy
Gaining knowledge of insurance policy, coverage, and regulation
Gaining knowledge of claim processes, policies, procedures, claim systems, coverage, liability, damage estimating, and/or settlement, and adherence to applicable legal compliance standards
