Position Summary

Under direct supervision, performs a variety of claim clerical support duties for the Claim Department

Responsibilities

  • Processes new claims received daily in Appian and sends out system generated letters to claimants.
  • Review RCCM and Diaries daily to ensure claims are processed within SLA.
  • Review State Adjuster license spreadsheet and assign claim to appropriate adjuster for processing and completion.
  • Proofreads work for accuracy; distributes all letters and memorandums for proper approval.
  • Contacts agents and insured on routine claims to obtain or to clarify information supplied on a loss report.
  • Return calls to claimants on status inquiries and routine claim questions within 24 hours.
  • Receives documents via US postal mail, courier and fax, matches claim number on document to claim in CMS. Scans and redacts credit card info from documents and uploads to the claim file in CMS.
  • Retains documents for 2 weeks and after dispose in recycle bin.
  • Determines proper file and claim number on unidentified claim correspondence and process accordingly.
  • Print letters/forms received in the Affinity Outgoing inbox from adjusters/processors, inserts into envelope and send via US postal service.
  • Tracks all documents received via the Document Center (i.e. outgoing mail, incoming mail, faxes and return mail) by updating the spreadsheets stored in the A&H shared drive.
  • Performs a variety of clerical duties such as creating letters, forms, reports or memorandums. Sorting/filing mail and correspondences. Assists management and adjusters as required or requested.
  • Assist in training new team members on various claims (i.e. Medical, AD&D, Travel, Halo, and Credit Card).
  • Operates equipment such as desktop PC, copiers; scanners, fax obtains and distributes copies as requested.
  • Assists in updating claim manuals and documents on shared drive.
  • Needs to be available and take overflow First Notice of Loss calls and enter them into TCC
  • Keeps supervisor informed verbally and in writing of activities and problems within assigned area of responsibility; refers matters beyond limits of authority and expertise to supervisor for direction.
  • Upholds the Crawford Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • Education equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by courses in typing and personal computer skills or the equivalent in related work experience.
  • 2 years of experience as a Claim Clerk or the equivalent demonstrating a basic knowledge of computer entry and operations.
  • Demonstrates good working knowledge of Claim processing and of Claim policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills
