Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group is one of the worlds top ten property/casualty insurance carriers with over 40,000 employees worldwide. We have an opportunity available for a Sr. Internal Auditor to work out of our Warren, NJ office.

Job Summary

The Senior Internal Auditor is responsible to work with the Internal Audit Manager to determine if MSMMs network of risk management, control, technology and governance processes are adequate and meet the needs of the business as well as regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities

Audit Management 50%

  • Performs the full audit cycle of highly complex audits including analyses of risk management, operations effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with applicable directives and regulations.
  • Conducts follow up audits and monitors managements response to recommended action plan.
  • Identifies gaps and recommends risk aversion measures.
  • Obtains, analyzes and evaluates accounting documentation, previous reports, data and flowcharts.
  • Ensures compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices and documentation.

Reporting 20%

  • Prepares and presents reports and memorandum that reflect audit results and documents processes.
  • Effectively communicates with business units being audited and Internal Audit staff.

Internal Audit Support 20%

  • Trains and mentors Internal Audit staff and reviews team members work when needed
  • Assists Internal Audit Manager with special projects and performs additional responsibilities as required.

Regulatory Compliance 10%

  • Engages in continuous knowledge development regarding regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards.
  • Acts as an objective consultant to ensure validity and accuracy in the financial statements and operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree is required.
  • Accounting and Finance concentration is preferred.
  • CIA/CPA is preferred.
  • 5 years related internal audit experience preferably in a property/casualty insurance company required
  • External audit and/or general industry experience a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, SOX, COSO, Stat Accounting and IPPF is required.
  • Able to execute a full audit cycle independently
