Job Description

Searching for a Remote Property Field Adjuster in San Diego County or Orange County! A Field Adjuster supports casualty and property adjusters by conducting outside filed investigations on casualty or property losses as necessary. On a casualty loss, the purpose of the investigation is to determine the Insureds legal liability and if applicable, determine the extent of property damage. On a Property loss, the purpose of the investigation is to determine the scope of the damages and prepare an estimate capturing the replacement cost and actual cash value of the loss, consistent with the terms of the applicable policy. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Preliminary forensic examination of the loss location
  • Through interviews, collect and review documents including leases, deeds, and easements, ascertain who had control of the loss location and who was responsible for maintenance and repair
  • Obtain documents that may shift risk and liability (including leases, easement, maintenance agreements, etc.)
  • Take appropriate measurements, photographs and recorded statements
  • If claim involves damages to property, take photos and measurements to determine scope of damage and estimate the damages in terms of replacement costs, actual cash value or other measure of damages.
  • Must be familiar with building codes and local ordinances.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computerized estimating systems.
  • Must be able to guide and oversee experts, on behalf of the client, including causes and origin, experts, structural engineers, architects, and remediation experts.
  • Must keep current on legal and regulatory developments, and on applicable case law.
  • Be alert to insurance fraud and implement special procedures if possible fraud is detected.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
  • Must be able to guide and oversee experts, on behalf of the client, including causes and origin, experts, structural engineers, architects, and remediation experts.
  • Directs and plans the work of staff members and has direct involvement with and/or responsibility for the hiring, coaching, developing, training, appraising and disciplinary processes for subordinates
SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Must have mastery of the applicable fair claims handling requirements or the applicable jurisdiction and apply these concepts on behalf of the client in furtherance of Yorks duty to the client.
  • Possess knowledge of property general liability policies (both standard forms and as issued by the applicable insured-client).
  • Must be able to help identify and investigate possible liability issues to protect the policyholder from liability clams.
  • Knowledge of liability issues relevant to the claim

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Must be familiar with Xactimate including Sketch
  • An understanding of claims handling principles as applied to field adjusting
  • Ability to gather and evaluate facts at a loss location
  • Ability to prepare a well-reasoned report, including a property damage estimate, as appropriate
EDUCATION:
  • BS / BA or Equivalent Work Experience
  • Licenses as required
EXPERIENCE:
  • 3+ years Field Property experience
  • Territory is Los Angeles Metropolitan Area
  • Work from home position
