THE FINANCIAL ANALYSIS TEAM AT THE SLA The Financial Analysis Team works closely with the CDI to ensure California home-state consumers have access to financially sound and reputable surplus line insurers. We work with the CDI to maintain the LASLI (List of Approved Surplus Line Insurers) as well as monitor other companies eligible to write in California. THE POSITION We are seeking a full-time Assistant Vice President (AVP) or Team Lead to manage department operations focused on conducting financial analysis and ongoing monitoring of California surplus line insurers to determine financial solvency and statutory compliance. Work closely with Department Management (SVP and AVP) to manage team of financial analysts and technical assistants responsible for obtaining, reviewing and analyzing information from various internal and external sources (e.g. rating agencies, NAIC database, financial statements etc.). Keep current regarding industry trends, issues, regulations and insurer news. Advise and provide technical expertise to Department Management, Senior Staff and the CDI on surplus lines related matters, “problem or troubled” insurers, filing deficiencies and other potential irregularities. Preserve confidential nature of records, data, and information accessed.  

Review, document and streamline processes. Work with Technology Department to update and maintain systems. Build team effectiveness and assist with staff’s training and development.

The position level, AVP or Team Lead, is dependent upon the level of experience.
